The document discusses group choices. It focuses on how groups make decisions together and need to find consensus on options. Groups have to consider different viewpoints and priorities when making collective decisions.
Ethics is an important topic that requires consideration. While there are many perspectives on ethics, focusing on treating all people with dignity, respect, and compassion is a good approach. Overall, having discussions around ethics can help society progress in a positive direction.
The music video will take place primarily in a family household to depict a broken family. Scenes will also show the mother at her stressful office job, meant to convey her role in supporting the troubled family.
The three main characters are a teenage girl struggling with abuse, her abusive father portrayed as a stereotypical middle-aged man, and a mother figure who is overworked trying to hold the family together, dressed in bleak colors.
Lighting and props like the girl's teddy bear and a "World's Best Dad" mug will be used to subtly convey themes of innocence, loss of childhood, and the failing father-daughter relationship through contrasts and symbolic drops and breaks as the abuse escalates.
The document discusses a preliminary task involving a storyboard. It appears to be the beginning of plans or notes for creating a storyboard, which is a visual layout of shots and scenes in a film or other visual media project. The brief document label this as an "AS Preliminary task" indicating it is part of initial planning and preparation work on an undefined project requiring a storyboard.
The opening credits use unusual text formatting and jittering movement to unsettle viewers and establish a dark, serious tone for the film. The unstable text in a strange font implies an inhuman antagonist and makes the audience uncomfortable. The bright white text against a dark background represents the film's overall dark and serious themes.
The document analyzes the title sequence of a film. It notes that the bold red capitalized text and brief background images suggest a simple narrative with mystery. The damaged text names indicate violent tones linked to action films. The fast-moving text across the screen represents the fast-paced nature of the film's action themes. The sequence effectively represents the film's tones of action, suspense, and mystery through stylized text and brief black-and-white images.
The document outlines three ident ideas from Joe Bowman, Adam Richards, Tristan Hale and Robyn Collier for a thriller film production company called Elevation Studios. All three ideas involve filming within or around an elevator to create suspense through the rising and falling movement and use of lighting, sounds and camera angles. The first idea shows the elevator shaft from inside as it rises and falls quickly. The second films close-ups of lit floor buttons as levels are reached. The third shoots from inside a dark elevator where light shines through the opening doors on each level.
The title sequence shows the names in a formal, bold text against an image of a girl running to an unknown destination, building mystery. While this builds some suspense, the author feels it lacks creativity and does not fully capture the dark and disturbing tones of the film to maximize suspense and engagement for the audience. The author suggests the sequence could be improved to better set the mood.

Thriller genre research discusses the definition, aims, and techniques of thriller films. A thriller film is defined as one with elements of suspense, tension, and excitement to keep audiences engaged until the end. The main aim of thrillers is to alter viewers' emotions and feelings through anticipated anxiety, surprise, and terror. Filmmakers achieve these aims by building the story up to a climactic ending that shocks audiences, while also keeping a fast pace to continuously stimulate emotions.
This document discusses plans for an opening sequence for a thriller film. It will involve a woman running in terror down a flight of stairs from a psychopathic killer. Conventionally, the victim will be a teenage girl. The antagonist's identity and face will remain hidden. The protagonist, a father of one of the victims, will help the woman. The sequence will include cross-cutting between the woman escaping and the antagonist cleaning up a crime scene. The target audience will be ages 15-20 and the sequence must be appropriate for them. Ideas are discussed for locations, representations of characters, and an ident sequence involving an elevator.
This document outlines 12 scenes with multiple shots each that tell the story of a victim being chased by an antagonist. Each scene and shot lists the camera angle and any associated sounds. The scenes show the victim running away from their flat in fear, with flashbacks to the antagonist attacking them inside. It culminates with the antagonist finally catching up to the victim.
In 3 sentences or less, the document discusses how the media product uses and challenges conventions of the thriller genre through various elements:
The opening titles sequence follows thriller conventions through its font and dark background but challenges conventions by having no music. Lighting and locations are used to characterize the antagonist and victim but in unconventional washed-out colors. Camera angles, editing, and special effects are employed to create mystery, suspense, and demonstrate an unstable mindset while challenging expectations.
The document discusses several conventions of indie music videos put forth by Andrew Goodwin and how the student's media product uses, develops, and challenges some of these conventions. The student analyzes Goodwin's theories on thought beats, the relationship between music and visuals, use of the artist, star image, and technical aspects. The student then explains how their music video illustrates the song's meaning through narrative and visuals, uses relatable locations but not unique costumes, and challenges conventions by not including an artist performance or using the artist as the central focus.
Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
