1. Mise en Scene
The woods - white snow, silver birth. man
under the light
As before but in closer shot
The woods are empty but not far far away
- we see and hear cars on a road in the
distance
The rope - the man being pulled up by his
feet in centre of shot.
Blood red - not emphasised as much as it
could be by the white snow..
Dog is a poodle - not threatening, a
comedy dog.
The man leaves the blood behind...
Sound
All diagetic ambient noise - close to the
road.
Non diagetic soundtrack comes in just
before the cut - dramatic single note music
Music quietly continues - low bass notes as
he gets the funnel and bottle
Diagetic sound of the blood falling
Diagetic sound of the dog barking and its
owner calling
Diagetic sound of the dog lapping up blood
Editing
Long duration shot of capture of victim cut
to
Woods in closer view (sound edit leads
into video edit)
Sound of blood dripping leads into cut to
abstract close up of bottle with blood
falling in
Cut to dog running across scene and then
to dog looking, to people coming, cut to
dogʼs pov of victim
Cut to mid shot of man and dog, held a
long time
Cut to owners, and then their pov of dog
and blood
Cinematography
Long held mid shot of the woods, man
fairly central under light
Shot moves from woods to action (only
camera movement in the scene) - carefully
framed to not show his neck being cut
although we then see the dogʼs view of
whatʼs happening in medium close up
Mid shot of the man and his victim and the
dog, with the man trying to shoo him away,
is comic.
Mid shot of the owners arriving but not of
their reaction to the scene - cut to dog
lapping up blood
