Toyota Corporation developed the lean production concept that made it an industry leader in area of productivity and quality. The advantages that the system presented propelled the corporation to the top of the industry. However, Toyota appears to be losing its position as the most productive company in the automobile industry. It is also experiencing difficulties dealing with competition.
