3. India world's largest sourcing destination for IT industry.
Accounting for approximately 67 % of US$ 124-130 billion market.
The industry employs about 10 million workforce.
India's cost competitiveness is approximately 3-4 times cheaper
than the US.
IT industry has also created significant demand in Indian education
sector, especially for engineering and computer science.
SECTOR ANALYSIS
4. The Indian IT and ITeS industry is divided into 4 major segments :
IT services,
business process management (BPM),
software products and
engineering services, and hardware.
The IT-BPM sector in India grew at CAGR of 15% over 2010-15 i.e. 3-4
times higher than the global IT-BPM spend.
It is estimated to expand at a CAGR of 9.5 per cent to US$
300billion by 2020.

India’s technology & BPM sector is estimated to have
generated US$ 146 billion in revenue during FY15 & US$
118 billion in FY14, implying a growth rate of 23.72.
The contribution of the IT sector to India’s GDP rose to
approximately 9.5% in FY15 from 1.2% in FY98.
The top six firms contribute around 36% to the total
industry revenue.
Indicating the market is fairly competitive, with TCS

The layout of plant, shape and size of its buildings, location of
services and storage yards, position of materials handling
equipment is such that material flows uni-directionally at a steady
rate.
PRODUCT LAYOUT
11. Heavy materials and sub assemblies follow this type of lay out.
The heavy material components or sub-assemblies, under this lay
out remain fixed at one place.
This type of layout is suitable:
a. When one or few pieces of an identical product are to be
maintained.
b. When assembly consists of a large number of heavy parts, the
cost of transportation of which is very high.
