6. Introduction:
An engineering structure is any connected
system of members built to support or
transfer forces and to safely withstand the
loads applied to it.
7. Bridge:
A bridge is a structure built to span physical
obstacles without closing the way underneath
such as a body of water, valley, or road, for the
purpose of providing passage over the obstacle.
As we know there are different types of bridges,
Bonhill and Whipple arc are one of them. These
designs are very similar to arch design which is
known for its strength. There are many different
variations of arch bridges, including: deck and
tied. Arch bridges are very common over
mountain valleys and steep gorges. Our selected
bridge design is very similar to both of these
designs.
9. Selected Design and Structure:
The design selected for the project bridge
is combination of Bonhill and Whipple Arc
Bridge. It is similar to arch design which is
mostly known for its strength. We use
bonhill trusses in our bridge.

12. Table and Force Calculations:
The following calculations are based by
assuming mass attached to the center of the
bridge and the bridge is supported by roller
connection under the gravity of 9.8
𝑚
𝑠𝑒𝑐2. The
weight is considered to be hanging in exact
center of the bridge.
The total Length of bridge is 61 cm, height is
14 cm and width is 11 cm.
