3. CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
• 1.1 Background
Ethio telecom mainly work to fill the customers need, in efficient and within speed.
In order to fill this need the technicians that work under FAN division must know
The exact place where fault occur and takes the related information with that fault.
Report their daily work easily.
During our stay in this department the most challenging part is that the way they report their daily work and
waste most of their time by finding where the fault is occurred.
To solve this, we developed an efficient simple Fault location identifier and daily report applications for site
technicians.
This software system enable the site technicians to identifies where fault occur within related information's and
report their daily work in time effective method.
3
4. 1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The technicians didn’t known the location where fault occur, specially new technicians.
They waste most of the time by searching where fault occur, either subscriber house or fault on MSAG.
More cost is wasted since they search the location by calling to customer it self also searching by car.
Reporting their daily work is done orally by meeting their supervisor each day after work.
1.3 Objectives Of project
1.3.1 General Objective of Project
• The general objective of the project is to develop the fault location identifier and report daily work software for
FAN division of ethio telecom.
1.3.2 Specific Objective of Project
To efficient the work flow of the company.
Reduce human labor.
Decreasing the cost.
To speed up the time at the fault is troubleshooted
4
5. 1.4 Significance of The Project
This fault location identifiers and daily report have many advantages
Increase the speed at which fault is repaired
Saving the cost
Saving the time
In real life, we want the people to make more used to this one of the latest technologies.
1.5 Scope and Limitation of the Project
Scope:
It can find the location fault MSAGS
It can find the locations of fault Subscriber Phone
It makes to report their daily report in easy way
Limitation:
It only searches the location of existing subscriber and MSAG.
The status in daily report is fixed status.
If technicians have no enough money in his phone, he is unable to search it on google map

LITRETURE REVIEW
There are many work done precisely mainly related to fault location tracking
A GPS-based Mobile Dynamic Service Locator System
GPS-based Location Tracking System via Android Device
Smart Fault Location for Smart Grids
But all are based mainly on GSM and GPS which always require SIM card and any internet to operate.

METHODOLOGY
3.1 Methods
We identify the problems within FAN division, during our stay.
We read some related material that was previously done.
We gathered the data that was needed to begun our project from our supervisor and also co workers.
Then we had starting doing our project.
3.2 Design Part of The Project

3.3 System Design and Description of the project
The system have five options while it runs ,based on the selection of the button it operated.
The operation process or the system design part is shown generally as the next slide flow chart.

• These pages are just Home that displayed on the first while applications is opened in order to make the
technicians to choose what they need. As the java application the system has

• At the last if the help button is pressed it gives some information’s how to use this apps also if the about button
is pressed it gives information about developers.
4.2 Conclusion
• Searching the fault occur location and the way of reporting their daily work was very tedious for the part in
which we had taken our internship.
• This project are essential for ethio telecom Specially FAN division, by increasing the speed at which they
perform their given work.
