Testimonial Zenda B Jansen (ID 6408100107084)
Ms Jansen graduated in 2002 after completing a Master’s degree in Specialised
Education in our department. She was appointed as departmental administrator from
2004-2012. Her responsibilities included the academic administration of the department.
She also has lecturing experience and is currently a registered doctoral student in
Educational Support.
Ms Jansen was a pillar of support during my first term as departmental chair (2006-
2008). I can testify to her character and work ethics. She performed her duties as
departmental officer in an extremely professional and effective manner. She is loyal,
thorough, has high standards and work ethics, and is dedicated. In my experience she
possesses excellent communication and administrative skills and received the Rector’s
Award for Excellence in 2007. Her effective organisational skills and hardworking
manner make her someone who can always be relied on. She takes initiative, manages
time very effectively, constantly endeavours to work more cleverly and has the
capability to anticipate and to problem solve. Her appearance is immaculate; she is
always friendly, willing to assist and open to give advice. As departmental officer she
was a good advisor to both students and colleagues.
2. Ms Jansen assisted the department as part-time lecturer and tutor within both
undergraduate and postgraduate modules. She is a capable lecturer and her student
assessments testify of a high standard of work and effective communication with her
students. She played a dynamic role within the B Ed Hons Telematics program between
2004 and 2012, both administratively and as lecturer (telematics contact with distance
education learners, telephonic contact with students as well as compiling study letters,
assignments and examination papers). Although she has been appointed within the
Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences since 2013, she remained part of the
Department Educational Psychology Honours telematics lecturing team, presenting two
modules: Inclusive Education – one of my modules, and Adult Basic Education and
Training (in collaboration with Prof Doria Daniels).
I have known Ms Jansen the past twelve years: both as a colleague and a student. She
will be an asset to any organisation and I can strongly recommend her for any
administrative or academic/professional career for which she may apply. My contact
details are (office) 021 808 2306 and (e-mail) estelle@sun.ac.za. Feel free to contact
me should you have any further questions.
