• Length is the measurement or extent of something from end to end.
• It tells us how tall or long something is.
• A pencil is longer than an eraser and a multi-storey building is taller
than house.
6. Standard Units of Measurement
• A standard unit of measurement means everyone gets the same
measurement when a certain object is measured by different people.
• Standard unit of length is metre . It is written as ‘m’.
• A metre is divided into hundred equal parts. One of these hundred
equal part is known as one centimeter. It is written as ‘cm’.
• We measure the length of some objects using ruler.

9. Weight
When we want to check how heavy or light something is , we measure
its weight . Remember weight does not depend on the size of the
object.
Bigger things can sometimes weigh less than smaller things. For
example , A beach ball looks bigger but is lighter in weight, whereas , a
rock looks smaller but weighs more.
