Ā· Language Disorder ; can be defined as a significant delay in the use
and/or understanding of spoken or written language.The disorder may
involve the form of language[Phonology,Syntax and morphology] its
content or meaning[semantics] or its use[pragmatics] means social use
of language.
Ā· Causes; For most infants and children language develops naturally
as beginning at birth. Up to 1 out of every 20 children has symptoms
of language disorder, when the causes is unknown it is called
Developmental language disorder. Language disorder are rarely caused
by a lack of intelligence.
Ā· Expressive Language Disorder; is a āāCommunication disorderāā in
which there are difficulties with spoken or written expression.
Expressive language is most simply theāāOutputāā of language. How
one expresses his/her wants and need? This include not only words,
but also the grammar rules that indicate how words are combined
into phrases, sentences and paragraphs as well as the use of
gestures and facial expressions.
Ā· [Means getting meaning or message across to others]
Ā· Symptoms: Children with an expressive language disorder have
problem using language to express what they are thinking or need.
These children may ;
Ā· Have a hard time putting words together into sentences, or their
sentences may be simple, short and the word order may be off.
Ā· Have a difficulty finding the right words when talking.
Ā· Have a vocabulary that is below the level of other children the
same age.
Ā· Leave words out of sentences when talking.
Ā· Use certain phrases over and over again.
Ā· Use tenses [ past, present and future] improperly.
Ā· Frustration.
Ā· Receptive Language Disorder: is the understanding of
languageāāInputāā. Receptive language means the ability to understand
and comprehend language heard or read. A receptive language
disorder is an impaiment in the comprehension of a spoken, written,
gestural or other symbol system. It also effects the social and
academical life.
Ā· [Understanding the message coming from others]
Ā· Symptoms: The symptoms of receptive language disorderer are as
follows.

Ā· Problems following directions that are spoken to them.
Ā· Problems organizing their thoughts.
Ā· Problems identifying objects and pictures.
Ā· Taking turns when people talking in groups.
Ā· Problem in understanding plurals, verbs and tenses.
