1. Errors in Stock Area
Where common picking errors
occur and how to avoid them.
2. Six Plastic Washing Up Bowls of
this style equal one picking unit.
Do not take out of the plastic bag.
3. Not all plastic bags should be opened.
Remember to check the pack size first,
before you open and pick an item.
4. This photo shows the smallest unit pick
for coat hangers, as the cardboard band
(circled red) contains the selling bar code.
5. Here are coat hangers with bands on, in a sealed plastic
bag. The bag should not be opened as the pack size is 4
and there are 4 coat hangers in the bag. Remember listen
to the pack size on voice, before you open a plastic bag.
6. Here are some voice examples.
“Pack size 6, break case pick one” can mean open
case and take one out; but only if there are 6 individual
items in the box. If there are for example 6 packs of 6
items inside the case, you would pick one pack of six.
“Pack size 6, break case, break box, pick 1” means
open case and open pack and pick 1 item.
“Pack size 6, pick 1” means pick the case as it is.
If Voice says “Break Cases“ this is just the same as
“Break Case”.
7. This case contains 18 items in 3 boxes of 6.
Voice will say “Pack size 6, break case, pick 1.
So you would open the case and pick 1 bag of 6.
8. • Don’t forget to pick into the correct cage. If
you think you’ve made a mistake, check the
contents of the cages when you print the
labels.
• Avoid part pick (e.g 1 of 2, 2 of 2) cages to
DTC. The cages can be sorted on different
workstations on DTC,so mistakes can occur.
If you find you have done this, restack it all
onto a pallet. And if this is impossible, let DTC
know so they can deal with it.
9. • Listen to what Voice says before you pick
the item.
• Remember, if in doubt double check and if
you are still not sure ask for advice.
• If you feel there is an issue with the way
Voice asks you to pick an item, report it, so
we can highlight this so everyone is aware.
