Overcoming Adversity
I used to think that I was "all that." In elementary school and middle school I didn't have to work hard and was able to get good grades without
putting forth a lot of effort. My personal philosophy was that if I worked hard in class during the school day, then when I got home from school,
my time should be my own. I had been successful following this belief system for years, and then, I enrolled in AP World History (APWH) in the
tenth grade. My experiences in APWH changed my entire outlook on my role as a student and caused me to reevaluate my perspective on the things
that were important to me. I had heard that APWH was going to require a lot of work, but I was sure that it would be no different than any other

It became obvious that he didn't care about me as a student. He only cared about me as an athlete whose skills could help his team. By the mid–term
point of Fall semester, I was depressed and ready to give up. I was disappointed in myself because I was still failing despite dropping out of football.
My parents refused to let me succumb to the "poor me" syndrome. This was the time to show my strength of character. I needed to prove to myself
that I could overcome this obstacle. I prayed to God to give me guidance on how to get back on track. I started staying up later to do the reading. I paid
more attention in class. I joined a study group. As I put forth more of an effort, my grade slowly began to improve. By the end of the fall semester, I
had raised my "F" to a "D". I kept my focus during the spring semester. I ended the year with a 77% in the class. Although I didn't receive an A or a B,
I received something more valuable: self–respect and self–esteem. I learned that I must always do what is in my best interest even if there are others
who tell me that I am making wrong decisions. My work ethic is now the complete opposite of what it was in my 10th grade year. I have learned
many life lessons: I take my studies seriously, I know that I am capable of being successful in college level classes, and most importantly, I have
learned the value of hard work and

Overcoming Adversity: A Brief Analysis
Many people experience moments which help define them; for me, that defining moment came through loss. Nearly four years ago, my entire world
was shaken to its very foundation from the death of my mother. After many tumultuous years, my mother lost her battle with breast cancer in 2012.
Though coping with her death proved to be the most challenging obstacle I would ever face, it proved to also have a silver lining. Through my
adversity, I have been introduced to a community of cancer families which have provided me with endless support during my times of struggle, and to
whom I have been able to comfort in their own times of need.
As my ability to create dialogue about my situation grows, I have encountered more and more people with shared

Introduction Life presents us with many hardships and how one deals with them adds to their character. Horace claims "Adversity has the effect of
eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant". Although, setbacks can occur in life great lessons, which increase
strength and resiliency, are learned. Adversity happens frequently in life: accepting, learning, and changing helps overcome adversity. Overcoming
Adversity Process Accepting adversity is important because then individuals can learn and change from it. Many times, hardships present themselves at
times where it is difficult to accept them. Watt (2016) states that adversity is difficult but, the way you approach it doesn't have to be. Having a proper

Overcoming Adversity
Overcoming adversity says a lot about a person. The adversity in life I have had to personally overcome is a birth defect. I was born with a cleft
lip which has caused me to have five procedures from the ages of three months to sixteen years old. Not a day goes by where I'm not reminded of
the challenges I've had to overcome, because every time there is a mirror, I'm reminded by a scar upon my face. As time has passed my attitude
toward my misfortune has changed. When I was young, I thought nothing about my scar. When I was introduced to new people at a young age and
they began to question my mark, I thought it just made me more unique. By the time I was a preeteen I became more self–conscious about my face.
With time and a sense of reality, I came to the conclusion that we are all faced with adversity in life. The adversity that we must take on shapes us
into the people that we will one day become. If I had not been born with a cleft lip, I would most likely be less appreciative for the fortunes in my
life. I also would have less understanding in various situations. My career choice has been chosen in hopes of helping children who have to go
through obstacles at a young age, dealing with speech and swallowing. Children with cleft lips and/or palates struggle with the development of word
pronunciation, and as a Speech Pathologist, I would get the opportunity to help solve their problems. Another factor in my life I have learned from
besides my hardship, has been the

My Story Of Overcoming Adversity
I found the essay in week one to be a little difficult. I am not accustomed to writing and do not practice as often as I should. After beginning this
class, I have seen that maybe I should practice a little more. One task I thought I did well on is telling a story. I think I explained my step–dad's story
of overcoming adversity well and its effect on my life. I would not consider this well polished, but an area above the others. I described situations in
his life so that the reader could understand and keep up with the story. An area I believe I need work on is the ability to entertain the reader. I think I
told the story well but not in a very entertaining manner. I can see where some people would consider my style of writing very boring.

There have been many times I have faced adversity and failed or given up because the task was too daunting. But there was one specific time
where I would not give up and I took the challenge head on and succeeded. I had just moved to Washington State and friends and classmates were
telling me to try out for hockey. Now not even knowing how to skate at this time the idea was scary to me, but I decided to give it a try. Most kids my
age had been playing since the could walk, so these kids had an immense amount of experience over me. Now I had little to no time to at least learn
how to skate, so I didn't make a fool of myself. When I my first practice came around I started three years behind my friends. I was eager to start

How do people overcome obstacles? Everyone has once overcame adversity, but some people that have overcame adversity had faced things that
are hard to overcome, Adversity is a very difficult or unfavorable situation. Adversity can vary from a family member losing their life to your Xbox
getting destroyed. But the good thing about adversity is that you can overcome it if you use these three reasons. People overcome challenges by
accepting what happened, having a positive attitude and not caring what people think about you. To start it off, people can overcome adversity by
accepting what happened. For example, in "Soul Surfer" Betthany Hamilton had to accept that life might not be the same as before and that she will
have to move on. The reason I used this example is because it shows that Betthany Hamilton had to accept the event that happened and had to move
on. It also shows that if you ever need to overcome adversity you have to accept it and keep your life going. Another example, is in "A Work in

For example, in "Soul Surfer" Betthany didn't have a positive attitude in the beginning, but then learned to have a positive attitude. I used this
example because it shows that if you don't have a positive attitude it is hard to overcome adversity. I also used this example because it shows that
you can't be selfish and think about yourself before your family. You should also have a positive attitude because in a "Young Tinkerer builds a
Windmill Electrifying a Nation" William had a positive attitude which led him to build windmills to help people out. I used this example because it
shows that if you have a positive attitude you can do great things. I also used this example because in the story he didn't just want to build windmills
for his family but for his nation too. In short, if you have a positive attitude you can not only overcome your own adversity but your family's or your

"Everything in life takes place for a reason, no matter how hard or how unfair it may be something better will always come out of it." Our
sufferings throughout life have brought us to this very moment. Every adversity has given us a different soul from the moments before the
unthinkable. Those moments transform us and leave us never the same. The challenges life forces us to endure, many times will leave us broken
and feeling hopeless. Our perspective alters and either leave us feeling challenged to prove to ourselves life will be enjoyable again or so shattered
we are unable to move forward. My mother passed away in my arms; touching and holding her hand was healing for me. I held her hand and stroked
her warm arm as her last breath eased

Is overcoming an adversity difficult? Adversity is different for everyone. For some people adversity is overcoming their biggest fear or fighting
cancer. No matter the circumstances they are different for everyone even if the problem seems similar. Adversity could also be about injuries or if
something happened to another person. It's normally not easy to solve, but the situation is different for everyone. For me, my biggest adversity was
going through a big knee injury.
The 2016 football season had started and I was doing very well. I was thought I was invincible and nothing bad could happen to me, and sure enough
I was wrong. Towards the end of our second game I was punting and there was a bad snap. I picked up the ball and thought I could

me succeed in facing my shyness adversity. My shynesss was in and out of school. I was the kid who never raised their hand in class; during

me talk, but I did not over come the shyness. In fifth grade, I had to start riding a bus to school. It was all a new experience and multiple times I cried

Character Traits Of Overcoming Adversity
The character traits I possess that have helped me to overcome personal adversity are curiosity, focus, and composure. First of all, curiosity helps
me to easily gain a lot of knowledge because I always have a desire to know more about every information. For example, why question is my
frequency question in class. This help me to understand the lessons and memorize them longer. Especially, I always ask myself what I should do
to be better; therefore, I can forget difficulties and continue to work harder. The second trait that help me to overcome my adversity is focusing on
everything I do. I always know what I should do and how to make a plan for it. Planning and focusing help me to stay on the right track so that I can
quickly achieve success. Last but not least, I believe that composure is one of the most important trait that can help me to solve my problems faster. In
fact, whenever I have problem in life, I always try to calm down and spend time to think carefully instead of getting angry. Therefore, I can find out

I believe that trying to be a good person is a great way to contribute to the society in a positive way. Crimes, addicts, or prostitutes are serious
problems in society and they need to be controlled better. Therefore, my first step of making a contribution is to improve myeducation as well as good
characteristics in order to have positive effects in other people. Besides that, I am always friendly and ready to help my neighbors whenever they
need because this may build a good relationship among people. Good neighborhood will create a good society. Finally, I will continue to work as a
volunteer in the church and YMCA. I also plan to apply to disability centers or a hospitals which currently do not have enough staffs. They help me
contribute my knowledge to the society as well as help the community to become

was never exposed to the idea of discrimination and multiple races, but not having the same skin tone or background as my teammates, I constantly
endured racial comments; however, this adversity only made me work harder. I attended both Junior Varsity and Varsity practices and later I was

Overcoming adversity is a challenge that everyone has to face. Some good examples of people who overcame adversity are the Boston Marathon
runners, John J. Pinder, and Malala Yousafzai. They all had challenges to face, but they never gave up. Overcoming adversity is going to be hard,
but the ending will be worthwhile, that's why patience is needed to overcome adversity. Life is like a roller coaster, full of ups, downs, inside outs,
sometimes you may start out slow, but as you go along, you speed up, in adversity, it may take some time to think about how to overcome it, but you'
get the hang of it and will eventually overcome it. Malala was faced with a lot of problems and challenges, but she pulled through and overcame
adversity.
First of all, Determination is necessary to overcome adversity because it shows that no one is ever going to back down from what they believe in.
Malala didn't give up and earned what was rightfully hers–the ability to have an education. The article, "Malala" states, "The Taliban's attempt to keep
Malala from getting an education has now backfired. Not only is Malala alive and bravely continuing to campaign for her beliefs, but Nov. 10 was
named Malala Day to urge people to support the almost 32 million girls worldwide who are denied schooling." Malala showed her determination by

Overcoming adversity takes a lot of skill and hard work. If you don't try to finish, you can't expect to win. Adversity is an obstacle in lots of lives,
whether it's at work or at school. Using determination, courage, patience, and attemptation helps you overcome adversity because adversity is just
an obstacle, so it will die down, later on. Don't give into adversity, for giving up means that there is no way to succeed and you will be stuck in a loop
of adversity. Always be hopeful and strong, and adversity won't be a problem to deal

Who am I? What do I portray? Am i the carrot, the egg, or the coffee bean? Throughout my life I have faced plenty of adversity. I've faced it at
home, I have faced it through sports, and I've even faced adversity at places like church. It's everywhere, all the time. I don't always handle it to the
best of my ability, though. In many situations I am the carrot. I go into a difficult situation strong and feeling almost unbreakable, but the adversity
molds you into a different person. Adversity is strong and transforms you into a weak, mushy substance if you approach it like a carrot. You have
to be mindful and approach every situation with a plan. There are so many people in our lives that handle adverse situations like a carrot on the
daily. It's even our closest friends handling it like this sometimes. When they do, I see it as being partially our fault because we should guide them
into handling a situation not hard headed and by themselves, but educated and with those who can help. I've handled plenty of my lifes adversity like
an egg. I let the adversity harden my insides grotesquely. I know it isn't how i should handle my problems, but sometimes you can't help it. When i got

I crave adversity and fixing it. Nothing brings people together better than separation. The greatest example i can give for being the "coffee bean" of an
adverse situation is our great nation. The adverse situation was none other than WWII. It may have been one of the most important moments of U.S>
history, but we handled it as if it was just another microcosm of life. We were in The Great Depression no more than 5 years before the war, yet after it
was finished the American infrastructure was never better. Business worldwide was booming. All because we handled the rough situation with
intelligence and looked at the positives that could come from this traumatic moment in

The Process Of Overcoming Adversity
"I am going to start leaving 10–11 day's a month." my dad said to me. At first I thought he was joking so I turned to my mom and unfortunately he
was not. My dad was really for real going to start leaving and for what sounded like he was going to be gone a century.Throughout the process of
overcoming my adversity I used the very important advanced life skills humor and creativity as an very important aid. Using those life skills had an
outstanding result of me overcoming adversity and I recommend that you use some of them to.
Apparently my Dad would become out of skill if he didn't go do this because of the low business for his job as a psychiatrist which triggered the

Personal Essay: Overcoming Adversity
I lead my life according to the belief that, success is a measure of our perceived reality. In many socially oppressed communities, barriers to living a
whole, productive, successful life is beyond the grasp of many. I represent a historically underrepresented population with an educational disadvantage.
Firsthand, I have overcome economic, social, and health obstacles to achieve status of an undergraduate degree. Overcoming adversity unifies my

overcoming adversity.
To overcome adversity is to accept your fate, and admit to your consequences, or wrong doing to face an issue that is ahead of you , to choose what
path you will take in life. Overcoming adversity is one of the biggest hurdles we face. As Havelock Ellis wrote, "Pain and death are part of life. To
reject them is to reject life itself." Problems, large and small, present themselves to us throughout our whole existence.
Throughout these two texts, there are two very different points of views and how they have overcome their own adversities. We meet two very likable
characters in the beginning of both texts we learn a little about who they are, one is a rebellious teen who doesn't want to accept his wrong doing and the

or to stand up for yourself? depending on who as a person you are is to how you will answer this question. Put it in a different sense if you where given
two cards on one of the cards you are given the right to leave school and do nothing for the rest of your life, and the other is that you have to stay at
school but in doing so you will end up with a good life and end up having a good job, a house, a loving family. What would you choose ? Would you
take the easy way out and just give up like Brett did ? or would you staying and make the most out of it like Andy did ?
As a human we are always faced with adversities and we must all ways overcome them, some adversities may be small things like not wanting to get
out of bed in the morning but you do it anyway , or getting dressed these are things that just happen with life and we learn to face them and they shape
and teach us to be who we are.
The two texts are very easy to relate to depending on the question, do you give up easy or face your issues , the two characters are total opposites
but makes it so easy to relate their two texts to adversity, as they both face it but both taken totally different ways of solving their adversities it goes to
show on how diffferent people can deal with things some people crumble under pressure where others come out as diamonds. As teenagers in high
school we face hundreds of adversities everyday, competing with

I believe that everyone should be interactive with their family. I'm really close to my family, and I trust them with all of my thoughts. My family has
always been there for me no matter what happens. My family makes me the center of their attention. They always try to go to my sporting events and
always tell me that I do well to build my confidence up. When I was little playing minor league baseball, ages 9–11, my dad was the coach of our team
the Chicago White Sox. I was having a really rough game hitting. On the team I was usually one of the best hitters, but in that game nothing was going

Someone actually had confidence in me. In previous years when I struggled batting in a game, the next game I would be way down in the batting
order, and it completely destroyed me. When we arrived to the field for the next game, one game away from being eliminated, I looked at the
bottom of the batting order expecting my name to be there. When I finally found my name I was in the same spot that I was in the game before.
The game started and it was my first time at bat after the rough game. I could hear my dad from the dugout, cheering me on. I went up to bat with a
runner on second with two outs. Now in previous situations I wouldn't be as nervous, but after I struggled, I needed a hit. The pitcher was staring
in for a long time and finally threw the ball. My bat was on my shoulder and I watched it fly right by me for strike one. The next pitch I took a huge
swing , but I missed. I looked over towards the dugout, and I saw my dad put his head down. One person in my life that I never wanted to let down
was my dad. I dug my cleat in the dirt ready for the third pitch. As I saw him release the ball, I thought of my dad and how he had confidence in me.
As the pitch crossed the plate, I

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever
you go" Joshua 1:9. Adversity is what comes to mind when reading this verse. The Book of Joshua teaches us to accept the good things God provides
for us; things like adversity, suffering, and perseverance. I chose this verse becauseGod chose for me to go through something so horrifying at the age
of seventeen. It is natural to ask God "why me" in a time of hardship that never think about the purpose he has for us. How can adversity and suffering
be a good thing? Because learning to overcome something is what builds your character. It turns you into the person God created you to be; and you

I finally woke up feeling better than I had the day before and I instantly knew the plans God had for me. He gave me an unbelievable amount of
strength that I had no idea one person could obtain. I finally accepted that adversity was inevitable and I was no longer going to let it break me.
Overcoming adversity is one of the biggest challenged in life and when we finally have the courage and strength to face it; then we will see the
purpose God has for us. God will never give up on you and he will never leave your side. I continued to pray until I was no longer in such a bad
state of mind. I learned to accept what God had put me through at such an early age as the best blessing I have ever received. Suffering built
perseverance and hope that I never thought I had, he took my dark time and turned it into a gift. My experience is not a misfortune, it is something
God gave me to be able to serve others. In times of difficulty, no one knows what God is doing with their life but he made me realize what I was
capable of overcoming if I trusted in him and never lost faith. He turned something so terrible into something amazing. This showed me that he is
always there even when I feel alone and he is never going to leave me in a hard time. I am blessed to be able to be there for others in times like this and
give them advice or just be someone to talk to. This experience has influenced me to take on a career in psychology so no one ever

Overcoming Adversity

  • 1. Overcoming Adversity I used to think that I was "all that." In elementary school and middle school I didn't have to work hard and was able to get good grades without putting forth a lot of effort. My personal philosophy was that if I worked hard in class during the school day, then when I got home from school, my time should be my own. I had been successful following this belief system for years, and then, I enrolled in AP World History (APWH) in the tenth grade. My experiences in APWH changed my entire outlook on my role as a student and caused me to reevaluate my perspective on the things that were important to me. I had heard that APWH was going to require a lot of work, but I was sure that it would be no different than any other honors level class that...show more content... It became obvious that he didn't care about me as a student. He only cared about me as an athlete whose skills could help his team. By the mid–term point of Fall semester, I was depressed and ready to give up. I was disappointed in myself because I was still failing despite dropping out of football. My parents refused to let me succumb to the "poor me" syndrome. This was the time to show my strength of character. I needed to prove to myself that I could overcome this obstacle. I prayed to God to give me guidance on how to get back on track. I started staying up later to do the reading. I paid more attention in class. I joined a study group. As I put forth more of an effort, my grade slowly began to improve. By the end of the fall semester, I had raised my "F" to a "D". I kept my focus during the spring semester. I ended the year with a 77% in the class. Although I didn't receive an A or a B, I received something more valuable: self–respect and self–esteem. I learned that I must always do what is in my best interest even if there are others who tell me that I am making wrong decisions. My work ethic is now the complete opposite of what it was in my 10th grade year. I have learned many life lessons: I take my studies seriously, I know that I am capable of being successful in college level classes, and most importantly, I have learned the value of hard work and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Overcoming Adversity: A Brief Analysis Many people experience moments which help define them; for me, that defining moment came through loss. Nearly four years ago, my entire world was shaken to its very foundation from the death of my mother. After many tumultuous years, my mother lost her battle with breast cancer in 2012. Though coping with her death proved to be the most challenging obstacle I would ever face, it proved to also have a silver lining. Through my adversity, I have been introduced to a community of cancer families which have provided me with endless support during my times of struggle, and to whom I have been able to comfort in their own times of need. As my ability to create dialogue about my situation grows, I have encountered more and more people with shared Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Overcoming Adversity Research Paper Introduction Life presents us with many hardships and how one deals with them adds to their character. Horace claims "Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant". Although, setbacks can occur in life great lessons, which increase strength and resiliency, are learned. Adversity happens frequently in life: accepting, learning, and changing helps overcome adversity. Overcoming Adversity Process Accepting adversity is important because then individuals can learn and change from it. Many times, hardships present themselves at times where it is difficult to accept them. Watt (2016) states that adversity is difficult but, the way you approach it doesn't have to be. Having a proper attitude Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Overcoming Adversity Overcoming adversity says a lot about a person. The adversity in life I have had to personally overcome is a birth defect. I was born with a cleft lip which has caused me to have five procedures from the ages of three months to sixteen years old. Not a day goes by where I'm not reminded of the challenges I've had to overcome, because every time there is a mirror, I'm reminded by a scar upon my face. As time has passed my attitude toward my misfortune has changed. When I was young, I thought nothing about my scar. When I was introduced to new people at a young age and they began to question my mark, I thought it just made me more unique. By the time I was a preeteen I became more self–conscious about my face. With time and a sense of reality, I came to the conclusion that we are all faced with adversity in life. The adversity that we must take on shapes us into the people that we will one day become. If I had not been born with a cleft lip, I would most likely be less appreciative for the fortunes in my life. I also would have less understanding in various situations. My career choice has been chosen in hopes of helping children who have to go through obstacles at a young age, dealing with speech and swallowing. Children with cleft lips and/or palates struggle with the development of word pronunciation, and as a Speech Pathologist, I would get the opportunity to help solve their problems. Another factor in my life I have learned from besides my hardship, has been the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Story Of Overcoming Adversity I found the essay in week one to be a little difficult. I am not accustomed to writing and do not practice as often as I should. After beginning this class, I have seen that maybe I should practice a little more. One task I thought I did well on is telling a story. I think I explained my step–dad's story of overcoming adversity well and its effect on my life. I would not consider this well polished, but an area above the others. I described situations in his life so that the reader could understand and keep up with the story. An area I believe I need work on is the ability to entertain the reader. I think I told the story well but not in a very entertaining manner. I can see where some people would consider my style of writing very boring. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Overcoming Adversity There have been many times I have faced adversity and failed or given up because the task was too daunting. But there was one specific time where I would not give up and I took the challenge head on and succeeded. I had just moved to Washington State and friends and classmates were telling me to try out for hockey. Now not even knowing how to skate at this time the idea was scary to me, but I decided to give it a try. Most kids my age had been playing since the could walk, so these kids had an immense amount of experience over me. Now I had little to no time to at least learn how to skate, so I didn't make a fool of myself. When I my first practice came around I started three years behind my friends. I was eager to start working as hard as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. How do people overcome obstacles? Everyone has once overcame adversity, but some people that have overcame adversity had faced things that are hard to overcome, Adversity is a very difficult or unfavorable situation. Adversity can vary from a family member losing their life to your Xbox getting destroyed. But the good thing about adversity is that you can overcome it if you use these three reasons. People overcome challenges by accepting what happened, having a positive attitude and not caring what people think about you. To start it off, people can overcome adversity by accepting what happened. For example, in "Soul Surfer" Betthany Hamilton had to accept that life might not be the same as before and that she will have to move on. The reason I used this example is because it shows that Betthany Hamilton had to accept the event that happened and had to move on. It also shows that if you ever need to overcome adversity you have to accept it and keep your life going. Another example, is in "A Work in ...show more content... For example, in "Soul Surfer" Betthany didn't have a positive attitude in the beginning, but then learned to have a positive attitude. I used this example because it shows that if you don't have a positive attitude it is hard to overcome adversity. I also used this example because it shows that you can't be selfish and think about yourself before your family. You should also have a positive attitude because in a "Young Tinkerer builds a Windmill Electrifying a Nation" William had a positive attitude which led him to build windmills to help people out. I used this example because it shows that if you have a positive attitude you can do great things. I also used this example because in the story he didn't just want to build windmills for his family but for his nation too. In short, if you have a positive attitude you can not only overcome your own adversity but your family's or your nations Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Overcoming Adversity "Everything in life takes place for a reason, no matter how hard or how unfair it may be something better will always come out of it." Our sufferings throughout life have brought us to this very moment. Every adversity has given us a different soul from the moments before the unthinkable. Those moments transform us and leave us never the same. The challenges life forces us to endure, many times will leave us broken and feeling hopeless. Our perspective alters and either leave us feeling challenged to prove to ourselves life will be enjoyable again or so shattered we are unable to move forward. My mother passed away in my arms; touching and holding her hand was healing for me. I held her hand and stroked her warm arm as her last breath eased Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Overcoming Adversity Research Paper Is overcoming an adversity difficult? Adversity is different for everyone. For some people adversity is overcoming their biggest fear or fighting cancer. No matter the circumstances they are different for everyone even if the problem seems similar. Adversity could also be about injuries or if something happened to another person. It's normally not easy to solve, but the situation is different for everyone. For me, my biggest adversity was going through a big knee injury. The 2016 football season had started and I was doing very well. I was thought I was invincible and nothing bad could happen to me, and sure enough I was wrong. Towards the end of our second game I was punting and there was a bad snap. I picked up the ball and thought I could Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I have alwasy been involved in sports or volunteer work, but it never forced me to be brake out of my shell. Getting a job and being put in a situation with all new people is what let me succeed in facing my shyness adversity. My shynesss was in and out of school. I was the kid who never raised their hand in class; during confrences my mom was told that I needed to talk more over and over. I was on a soccer team from age 4 through 7th grade, this definitely made me talk, but I did not over come the shyness. In fifth grade, I had to start riding a bus to school. It was all a new experience and multiple times I cried when I got to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Character Traits Of Overcoming Adversity The character traits I possess that have helped me to overcome personal adversity are curiosity, focus, and composure. First of all, curiosity helps me to easily gain a lot of knowledge because I always have a desire to know more about every information. For example, why question is my frequency question in class. This help me to understand the lessons and memorize them longer. Especially, I always ask myself what I should do to be better; therefore, I can forget difficulties and continue to work harder. The second trait that help me to overcome my adversity is focusing on everything I do. I always know what I should do and how to make a plan for it. Planning and focusing help me to stay on the right track so that I can quickly achieve success. Last but not least, I believe that composure is one of the most important trait that can help me to solve my problems faster. In fact, whenever I have problem in life, I always try to calm down and spend time to think carefully instead of getting angry. Therefore, I can find out ...show more content... I believe that trying to be a good person is a great way to contribute to the society in a positive way. Crimes, addicts, or prostitutes are serious problems in society and they need to be controlled better. Therefore, my first step of making a contribution is to improve myeducation as well as good characteristics in order to have positive effects in other people. Besides that, I am always friendly and ready to help my neighbors whenever they need because this may build a good relationship among people. Good neighborhood will create a good society. Finally, I will continue to work as a volunteer in the church and YMCA. I also plan to apply to disability centers or a hospitals which currently do not have enough staffs. New to school and the environment, but the question of why they look at me differently than themselves never fade away from my head. Before coming here, in Iran, I was never exposed to the idea of discrimination and multiple races, but not having the same skin tone or background as my teammates, I constantly endured racial comments; however, this adversity only made me work harder. I attended both Junior Varsity and Varsity practices and later I was being named Most Valuable Player of my team. Before coming here I always loved helping others and was active in my community, so I decided to go to my city's Boys and Girls Club. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Overcoming Adversity Research Paper Overcoming adversity is a challenge that everyone has to face. Some good examples of people who overcame adversity are the Boston Marathon runners, John J. Pinder, and Malala Yousafzai. They all had challenges to face, but they never gave up. Overcoming adversity is going to be hard, but the ending will be worthwhile, that's why patience is needed to overcome adversity. Life is like a roller coaster, full of ups, downs, inside outs, sometimes you may start out slow, but as you go along, you speed up, in adversity, it may take some time to think about how to overcome it, but you' get the hang of it and will eventually overcome it. Malala was faced with a lot of problems and challenges, but she pulled through and overcame adversity. First of all, Determination is necessary to overcome adversity because it shows that no one is ever going to back down from what they believe in. Malala didn't give up and earned what was rightfully hers–the ability to have an education. The article, "Malala" states, "The Taliban's attempt to keep Malala from getting an education has now backfired. Not only is Malala alive and bravely continuing to campaign for her beliefs, but Nov. 10 was named Malala Day to urge people to support the almost 32 million girls worldwide who are denied schooling." Adversity is an obstacle in lots of lives, whether it's at work or at school. • 14. Personal Essay On Overcoming Adversity Who am I? What do I portray? Am i the carrot, the egg, or the coffee bean? Throughout my life I have faced plenty of adversity. I've faced it at home, I have faced it through sports, and I've even faced adversity at places like church. It's everywhere, all the time. I don't always handle it to the best of my ability, though. In many situations I am the carrot. I go into a difficult situation strong and feeling almost unbreakable, but the adversity molds you into a different person. Adversity is strong and transforms you into a weak, mushy substance if you approach it like a carrot. You have to be mindful and approach every situation with a plan. There are so many people in our lives that handle adverse situations like a carrot on the daily. It's even our closest friends handling it like this sometimes. When they do, I see it as being partially our fault because we should guide them into handling a situation not hard headed and by themselves, but educated and with those who can help. I've handled plenty of my lifes adversity like an egg. I let the adversity harden my insides grotesquely. I know it isn't how i should handle my problems, but sometimes you can't help it. The greatest example i can give for being the "coffee bean" of an adverse situation is our great nation. The adverse situation was none other than WWII. It may have been one of the most important moments of U.S> history, but we handled it as if it was just another microcosm of life. We were in The Great Depression no more than 5 years before the war, yet after it was finished the American infrastructure was never better. Business worldwide was booming. All because we handled the rough situation with intelligence and looked at the positives that could come from this traumatic moment in Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Using those life skills had an outstanding result of me overcoming adversity and I recommend that you use some of them to. • 16. Personal Essay: Overcoming Adversity I lead my life according to the belief that, success is a measure of our perceived reality. In many socially oppressed communities, barriers to living a whole, productive, successful life is beyond the grasp of many. I represent a historically underrepresented population with an educational disadvantage. Firsthand, I have overcome economic, social, and health obstacles to achieve status of an undergraduate degree. Overcoming adversity unifies my experience as an ideal candidate to give a voice to socially oppressed populations in need of health and well–being opportunities. I desire to effect change on a larger scale than previous experience has allowed and to give socially oppressed communities opportunities to perceive their reality with new success. Continuation of my time at OSU allows me to dedicate myself to the academic community and contribute to the field through leadership, research, and innovation. To overcome adversity is to accept your fate, and admit to your consequences, or wrong doing to face an issue that is ahead of you , to choose what path you will take in life. Overcoming adversity is one of the biggest hurdles we face. As Havelock Ellis wrote, "Pain and death are part of life. To reject them is to reject life itself." Problems, large and small, present themselves to us throughout our whole existence. • 18. Overcoming Adversity I believe that everyone should be interactive with their family. I'm really close to my family, and I trust them with all of my thoughts. My family has always been there for me no matter what happens. My family makes me the center of their attention. They always try to go to my sporting events and always tell me that I do well to build my confidence up. When I was little playing minor league baseball, ages 9–11, my dad was the coach of our team the Chicago White Sox. I was having a really rough game hitting. On the team I was usually one of the best hitters, but in that game nothing was going my way. When the game was over and we lost the first game of the playoffs, my dad was talking to the whole team, telling them that our season wasn't over that the...show more content... Someone actually had confidence in me. In previous years when I struggled batting in a game, the next game I would be way down in the batting order, and it completely destroyed me. When we arrived to the field for the next game, one game away from being eliminated, I looked at the bottom of the batting order expecting my name to be there. When I finally found my name I was in the same spot that I was in the game before. The game started and it was my first time at bat after the rough game. I could hear my dad from the dugout, cheering me on. I went up to bat with a runner on second with two outs. Now in previous situations I wouldn't be as nervous, but after I struggled, I needed a hit. The pitcher was staring in for a long time and finally threw the ball. My bat was on my shoulder and I watched it fly right by me for strike one. The next pitch I took a huge swing , but I missed. I looked over towards the dugout, and I saw my dad put his head down. One person in my life that I never wanted to let down was my dad. I dug my cleat in the dirt ready for the third pitch. As I saw him release the ball, I thought of my dad and how he had confidence in me. As the pitch crossed the plate, I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Overcoming Adversity "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go" Joshua 1:9. Adversity is what comes to mind when reading this verse. The Book of Joshua teaches us to accept the good things God provides for us; things like adversity, suffering, and perseverance. I chose this verse becauseGod chose for me to go through something so horrifying at the age of seventeen. It is natural to ask God "why me" in a time of hardship that never think about the purpose he has for us. How can adversity and suffering be a good thing? Because learning to overcome something is what builds your character. It turns you into the person God created you to be; and you find ways...show more content... I finally woke up feeling better than I had the day before and I instantly knew the plans God had for me. He gave me an unbelievable amount of strength that I had no idea one person could obtain. I finally accepted that adversity was inevitable and I was no longer going to let it break me. Overcoming adversity is one of the biggest challenged in life and when we finally have the courage and strength to face it; then we will see the purpose God has for us. God will never give up on you and he will never leave your side. I continued to pray until I was no longer in such a bad state of mind. I learned to accept what God had put me through at such an early age as the best blessing I have ever received. Suffering built perseverance and hope that I never thought I had, he took my dark time and turned it into a gift. My experience is not a misfortune, it is something God gave me to be able to serve others. In times of difficulty, no one knows what God is doing with their life but he made me realize what I was capable of overcoming if I trusted in him and never lost faith. He turned something so terrible into something amazing. This showed me that he is always there even when I feel alone and he is never going to leave me in a hard time. I am blessed to be able to be there for others in times like this and give them advice or just be someone to talk to. This experience has influenced me to take on a career in psychology so no one ever Get more content on HelpWriting.net
