Essay On Video Games
There is this new video game I have started playing. It's called Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. This game is a multiplayer shooter in which a
hundred players parachute onto an island and fight to the death. When you first land, you got to find weapons, ammunition, or any supplies that
might aid you. You can either play solo, in a duo, or run with a squad of four people. The main goal is to be the last man or group standing. First,
you have to pick how you're going to play; either by yourself, with someone else, or with a group. If you are not playing with friends that you know,
you might not want to play duo or squads. You will be at a disadvantage when matched up with groups that work well together. So when you first load

Backpacks let you hold more items which can be useful, but it's not necessary. The last thing you want to do is look for support items like first aid
kits and bandages. When you take damage, these items let you recover lost health. You can also get boosters like painkillers and energy drinks.
These items boost movement speed and slowly regain a little bit of health. Once you got all your gear, it's time to start moving towards the circle.
There's a large white circle called the Playzone. There is a blue circle that slowly closes in on the white circle that deals damage to anyone caught
in it. The way the game works is that the circle closes in to force players to engage each other. Whenever the circle gets smaller, you want to hustle
and make sure you are in the middle. Either hide in a house or in a bush. Never engage anyone unless you are sure that you are able to eliminate
them because other players will be drawn to you. Just play it cool and don't panic when you see people. Also, there is supply drops that parachute
into the game. They emit red smoke to let you see where they are. These drops contain top notch gear, but they attract plenty of players so be
careful. A good strategy is to watch of the supply drop instead of looting it that way you can pick off players going to it if you choose so. Finally,
when there is about twenty players left, things start to get tense. Since the circle is so small at this point, there is going

Argumentative Essay On Playing Video Games
Video games can provide an escape from reality although, often times are portrayed as violent, lazy and a waste of time. whenever something goes
wrong with the youths, invariably someone will point the finger at video games. But is it possible someone could play a Video Game and still do
well in school? The debate has raged on for years so, but could there be any positive effects? Before we dive in to far ahead of ourselves it's important
to note that too much of anything even water, water toxicity exists. So, if you binge and do nothing but play video games all day, the risks probably out
weight the benefits.
According to a study from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, it is in fact possible to enjoy Video Games regularly and not become a
flunkie. The study took data from "PISA", the "Program for International Student Assessment, and international survey that tests the math, reading, and
science skills of fifteen–year–old students". The survey also collected information on things like how much time a student spends online playing games
and their parent's education level and occupation though I wasn't too sure why. Using data from twelve thousand and four Australian students, the
research assessed the correlation between playing video games online and academic performance. They found that students who played games almost
every day performed substantially better in all categories, scoring fifteen points above average in math and reading, and seventeen points above

Personal Narrative : My First Soccer Game
There I was, sitting in my dad's sleek green Mazda heading to my very first soccer game. Four years old, prepared yet anxious, I couldn't believe
this was going to happen after two weeks of practice, meeting my teammates, and having fun. I wasn't too sure what to expect from the other
team. I was somewhat afraid that they'd be too big for me to compete with. I thought that it was somewhat funny that I had chosen to be a defender
even though I was one of the smallest of my team. There was no time for those thoughts now, it was a nice sunny day and I was ready to prove that
I was an important piece to the team and that I was definitely needed. "Are you one thousand percent ready for this this big day of yours?" my dad
asked. "I know you chose to be a defender but if you manage to score a goal, I'll take you to Chuck E Cheese. Actually, because I had a good
morning I'll take you if your team wins and I'll buy you so many coins for you to play games and win prizes." As I was arriving to the park, I could
see many goal posts. I looked myself and I thought, "Dang! This is really happening." I was still nervous to play an actual game. I played a few
practice games against my own teammates and sometimes against my brothers. I was comfortable playing against them because constantly playing
against them got me accustomed to the way they played, but playing a whole different team was spooky because I didn't know how they played and
or how good they were. "You okay?" my dad asked me

The best thing in the world to me I think is my video games because it gives me thrill ride of joy. Well because how every game played will never
be the same because everything in different types of video games are different. People always say that video games hurt people's minds but to me it
makes me really calm in my opinion. There's lots of video games that are kid friendly and also games that older adults should be playing that younger
kids in my opinion shouldn't be playing.
Video games are well known as violent and gruesome and sometimes even dangerous. The reason why that is because video game companies can do
whatever they want because they have so much money and power. These big gaming companies bring out games that people would enjoy playing

The thing is video games to some people can really affect someone's life because of what they play maybe some younger child does it and then he or
she does what the video games did or said theirs so many different opinions about video games and theirs so many different types of video games that

Creative Writing: The Greatest Video Game Essay
I had always wanted to program, not just anything. I wanted to program video games. Not just any video game. I wanted to to program the
greatest game ever made. I noticed that the reason people played them was because of the freedom they had, who wouldn't want freedom after
working a boring job for the day, you want to be able to come home and relax from your boring, hard life. I noticed however, that the popularity of a
game was determined by the degree of control one had over their "virtual life." There are games where you can control your character, and make it
seem realistic. There are games where you can even control every aspect of that character's life. I wanted to do better. I wanted to be able to control

Video games are a fun hobby for people of all ages, Not all of them are the best but they are not the cause of violence outside of the living room.
The image shown shows a lot of the misconceptions of people and how they jump to conclusions. This picture was drawn to show a boy playing
video games before it cuts to the same person holding a gun in a menacing way. The sudden transition is powerful and sudden to emphasize the
issue at hand. It then highlights all the possible issues that could have led to this situation. All of them are crossed out except for the one labeled
video games which is the center of attention being surrounded by arrows. The caption shown says "It is an Inevitable Process: What else could
possibly cause it?" This image is calling attention to one of the big problems in today's world. Everybody is so quick to blame something
unaccepted instead of obvious issues presented in the situation. This is why this picture is so important today. All the recent shootings in today's
world lead me to choose this image for the analysis. Video games are fun and innovative platforms for creative and interesting ideas to be brought
into reality. Even the most violent video games can be popular for good reason. Nobody will support games that are not fun and interesting to play.
These games may be violent but there is a clear divide between reality and games. If a child sees a person in space, walking on walls there is a clear
split between real gravity and video game

Video Game Is Good Or Bad For Video Games Essay
Video Games: The Blame Game
Joan Jett's song, "I don't give a damn bout my bad reputation" may seem to express the sentiment of the video game industry. Despite being accused of
impairing academic achievement, leading to obesity, and contributing to violent behavior, the video game industry continues to market to children and
to create an increasing number of violent games. Gamers are said to be isolated, antisocial, and lazy. It appears that this billion dollar industry has a
blatant disregard for the public's wellbeing. However, the negative reputation of the video game industry and the stereotype of gamers is not accurate.
The video game industry has been blamed for enabling a sedentary lifestyle, even though they have created fitness games targeting health conscious
gamers to engage in physical activity. Playing video games is also blamed for diverting students' attention away from academics even though many
video games are created that focus on education. The violent video games are blamed for leading to violent behavior despite the lack of scientific
evidence. Not only is there a lack of evidence that video games cause detrimental effects to players, but there is actually evidence to the contrary.
Although many people believe that playing video games can be harmful, playing video games can be beneficial to the player because they can improve
your health, mental capabilities, and behavior.
Playing video games has proven to be beneficial to your health and this

Have you ever wondered how games impact children? or why kids love to play them? Well your about to find out and the answer may be surprising.
Video games were first introduced in the 1970s. By the end of that decade they had become a preferred childhood leisure activity, and adults
responded with concern about the possible ill effects of the games on children. Early research on these effects was inconclusive. However, a resurgence
in video game sales that began in the late 1980s after the introduction of the Nintendo system has renewed interest in examining the effects of video
games. The increasingly realistic and exciting nature of electronic games has helped to make them enormously popular with children and youth. 79%

After playing this game, they were given a competitive reaction time task in which they played against another student. If they beat the other
student, they got to deliver a loud "noise blast," and were able to control how loud and how long the noise blast would be. Students who had
previously played the violent video game delivered longer noise blasts to their opponents (Anderson & Dill, 2000). In a study of 8th and 9th
graders, students who played more violent video games were also more likely to see the world as a hostile place, to get into frequent arguments with
teachers, and to be involved in physical fights It has often been suggested that violent video games are not the culprit for these types of behaviors;
instead, the cause is underlying hostility. The argument goes, "Hostile kids get into more arguments and more fights. They also like to play more
violent games." While this is true, it is not the whole story. This study measured children's trait hostility, and found that exposure to video game
violence is a significant predictor of physical fights, even when students' sex, hostility level, and amount of video game playing are controlled
statistically. If hostility were the whole story, then in general, only hostile children would tend to get into fights, and children with the lowest hostility
scores would not get into physical fights regardless of their video game habits. Figure 1 shows

that video games can be used for therapeutic purposes, exercise, stress relievers, positive interactive learning, hand eye coordination, and different types
of patient treatment for people all around the world.
When playing video games, the coordination and concentration can physically, socially, and mentally benefit the user. Research today shows that
certain video games can reduce fat and therefore promote weight loss. Other sources state that doctors have instructed parents to let their children play

Active video games are also being marketed for adults. New Gaming companies have been turning their gaming systems into exercise machines
(Recio 143). This new game keeps the player fit while watching television. One machine will incorporate a favorite show into an aerobic workout by
broadcasting the selected show loud and clear during the exercise. Once the person starts to decrease their effort the volume will drop, and if they
continue to decrease, the television will shut off leaving nothing to watch. This creates a good workout environment involving exercises and
entertainment into a strict exercise agenda. Workout levels can range from heavy lifting or swimming (Recio 143). These workout levels are increasing
stamina causing weight loss and health awareness. The new video machines can drastically change an adults workout routine.
Video games can improve visual skills and brain function. Video games increase spatial awareness. When playing different video games eyes are

The Effectiveness of Educational Games Essay
Educational games for children have been widely used in supporting learning in–side and out of school and a growing interest have appeared for the
potential of digital games to deliver effective and engaging learning experiences [8]. There is a variety of computer games and software that intend to

Top 5 Video Games Essay
When people ask, "what is your favorite game of all time", you cannot help but feel somewhat lost in response. But when you put into context, and
think very hard, the best you can do is narrow it down to a select few. And after much time and deliberation, I've managed to put it down to just 5.
And that was only possible because I put the decade moniker on it. So, with that in mind, here are my top 5 games of the decade.
#5:
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection:
When you think of what you want in a hand held game, a lot of things may pop into your mind. You're going to want functional gameplay that works

As well as knowing that people will be playing this in short bursts, or may just chill on the can and level there character up. This was truly the
pinnacle of Tekken fighting games this decade. And for that I tip my hat to the Namco Bandi team that worked on it.
#4:
Animal Crossing
There are very few games that can make you want to stay at home, rather than going out with the boy's. Animal Crossing managed to do that, without
it feeling like a drag. Every time you came home from work, or school, you would run strait to your purple lunch box, and check on your imaginary
friends. And with good reason, the fishing contest was that day, and you needed to catch a bigger bass then that blasted hippo in Acer 4. Otherwise
you would not get that pineapple bed you had your eye on. But once you're done with that, you got to clean your room.
Saying that aloud now a days may sound somewhat insane, but when Animal Crossing had you in its clutches, it was all totally justified. And with its
docile tones, simplistic control, and cutesy nature, you felt as if life was good. And it was, because you just got K.K. Sliders new single. Now your
house was banging to the techno tunes of that rockin dog with a guitar. Not to mention you just got Joust in the mail from your mom. And when the
store opens again tomorrow you can go sell your Jackknives, and go buy that painting from Redd for the museum.
Just reminiscing about this game can give you

The Video Game Narrative Essay
The Video Game Narrative
The first argument that arose out of the video game world was the debate of video game violence. Still unresolved, this debate has actually allowed for
the video game industry to come fully into the main stream. As the din over violence quieted the fans of the game society began to focus on issues
more akin to their own style. So then began the debate of game play vs. the video game narrative. The question arose; can a game also be a story?
While the semantics would suggest that, no, a game cannot be a story, we do realize that a game can contain a story. However,...show more content...
Initially it would seem that the answer is simple, leaning towards the same linear story we've dealt with for years; however, the ability to change the
story depending on your own choices gives the game certain originality every time you play it. It ceases to be a storyteller and gives you the ability to
choose. Ultimately, it seems, games of the role–playing genre will give you the ability to influence every decision down to the most minute aspect.
The Sims (2000) allowed a player to create a single simulated person (a sim) or an entire family of sims, and each simulated day the player could
control everything their sim did, ranging from going to work, watching TV, eating, and even going to the bathroom. This ultimate choice seems to
make the story of a game less of a story, and more of a reality. However, the point of the game has no real climax and no end to the game, so it is in a
genre of its own.
It seems we should focus more on games that have a literal story line to get the answer. So, Knights of the Old Republic (2003) was released and
quickly became the RPG of the year. It was awarded the title for graphical beauty, but most importantly, a revolutionary leveling system. As the game
progressed your character gains experience from not only fighting, but from completing tasks and working with a myriad of objects and computers. But
the more impressive feature was the influence that your character had

Creating an Educational Video Game Essay
Creating an Educational Video Game
In the gaming world, there are many different types of games: sandbox, shooters, puzzle, RPG, platform and many more. One thing that is not seen is
educational games; they are there but are in the few. Many factors are the cause for the scarce amount of these games. They need to be educational in a
certain field; corresponding with math, reading or science. Therefore, they need to be fun to encourage players to continue playing the game as well as
to retain its teachings. Gamers today will mainly play games to have fun; thats why people today will rarely pickup educational genre because with the

Then after that, it is crucial to demo the engine that will be used for the game, to make sure it has the abilities needed to complete the program
successfully, or to select a new engine.
The next thing in the design process is to create and input educational content in the game. Chose significant items that relate to the content of the
game; furthermore, make sure it goes along with the story to keep the gamer entertained enough to continue use. The educational content to be included
must consist of types, not just random information jumbled up to try to teach many topics at once. Upon finding what to teach to the player; generalize
the data for a large audience. "Teaching reading comprehension...is different from the past, teachers need to focus on extensive comprehension
instruction with all students... [do not assume] they are successful readers" (Gee 3). This is so that any player can start the game and begin learning
regardless of their reading skills. Therefore, the levels can increase in complexity and in difficulty so that the player can begin to master the skills the
game has to teach him without making it so easy that anyone can win. In this game, reading and literacy skills will be the main focus, it will use
multiple teaching strategies including reading aloud, "in the read aloud strategy, the [game] reads out loud to the [player]... It is important that it be
read with enthusiasm, rhythm and proper intonation. This way [players] can

Essay on Video Games: Good or Bad?
Many young children and teenagers have heard their mother's incessant plead to get away from the screen and to go outside or pick up a book for
once instead. The urge to play "just one more level" before starting that homework or doing those chores can be quite distracting. But are video games
really as awful as Mom exclaims or as brutal as those TV ads depict? It turns out that video games can have a strong impact on participants' lives in
both positive as well as negative ways.
When imagining the typical video gamer, one might envision the stereotypical overweight, slightly nerdy looking man who traps himself within his

Since several video games contain some sort of violent content, it has been hypothesized that gamers nowadays tend to be more aggressive. Gentile
also states that "playing violent games increases aggressive behaviors, increases aggressive cognitions, [and] increases aggressive emotions." This is
an intense list of negative consequences, but what makes violent games instill such hostility? Many video games today include multiplayer in addition
to classical single player modes. With real life opponents, gamers are much more competitive and inclined to demonstrate dominance over friends and
real life opponents. Whereas facing a computer can be competitive, there may be a stronger feeling of satisfaction after defeating a nonvirtual enemy
which could translate into real life aggression towards real people. Though correlation does not mean causation, the fear that violent video games may
increase problematic antagonism is clearly not misplaced.
But not all video games are violent: in fact, video games can promote cohesion through cooperation rather than competition. Multiplayer games
sometimes implement a cooperative mode enabling players to use teamwork to achieve a goal instead of contending for supremacy. This cooperative
multiplayer encourages "(against the stereotype of gaming as a socially isolating action) the development of team, social,

The Story of the Search
I dedicate a large amount of my time to playng video games, and I often hear claims like, "video games rot your brain," and, "video games aren't

I already knew that there were some positive effects of video games and some negative effects, and I also knew that too much exposure to screens in

What I hoped to learn was how video games affect the brain and the body, how they helped and hurt people, and what kinds of video games are the
best and worst for you.
In my research process, I would search for a different subquestion each day, and I would look for the most credible source I could find, and take

Using this process, I was able to find a large volume of useful, credible information and find answers to all my questions.
The Results of The Search
I was very surprised with the results of my search, as I was expecting mostly negative effects. However, the results were that video games had
overwhelmingly positive effects on the brain. The first piece of information I found was that according to Sage Publishing, studies showed a strong,

very beautiful environments for the player to explore, while slaying the many monsters that pursue him. These games are designed for someone who

Thirdly, the strategy gamer. This person enjoys the art of creating a large empire or controlling a massive army into uncharted lands, conquering and
acquiring valuable resources in the process, up until there is nothing left to conquer for the player. These games involve the term resource management,

Essay On Video Games

  • 1. Essay On Video Games There is this new video game I have started playing. It's called Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. This game is a multiplayer shooter in which a hundred players parachute onto an island and fight to the death. When you first land, you got to find weapons, ammunition, or any supplies that might aid you. You can either play solo, in a duo, or run with a squad of four people. The main goal is to be the last man or group standing. First, you have to pick how you're going to play; either by yourself, with someone else, or with a group. If you are not playing with friends that you know, you might not want to play duo or squads. You will be at a disadvantage when matched up with groups that work well together. So when you first load ...show more content... Backpacks let you hold more items which can be useful, but it's not necessary. The last thing you want to do is look for support items like first aid kits and bandages. When you take damage, these items let you recover lost health. You can also get boosters like painkillers and energy drinks. These items boost movement speed and slowly regain a little bit of health. Once you got all your gear, it's time to start moving towards the circle. There's a large white circle called the Playzone. There is a blue circle that slowly closes in on the white circle that deals damage to anyone caught in it. The way the game works is that the circle closes in to force players to engage each other. Whenever the circle gets smaller, you want to hustle and make sure you are in the middle. Either hide in a house or in a bush. Never engage anyone unless you are sure that you are able to eliminate them because other players will be drawn to you. Just play it cool and don't panic when you see people. Also, there is supply drops that parachute into the game. They emit red smoke to let you see where they are. These drops contain top notch gear, but they attract plenty of players so be careful. A good strategy is to watch of the supply drop instead of looting it that way you can pick off players going to it if you choose so. Finally, when there is about twenty players left, things start to get tense. Since the circle is so small at this point, there is going Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Argumentative Essay On Playing Video Games Video games can provide an escape from reality although, often times are portrayed as violent, lazy and a waste of time. whenever something goes wrong with the youths, invariably someone will point the finger at video games. But is it possible someone could play a Video Game and still do well in school? The debate has raged on for years so, but could there be any positive effects? Before we dive in to far ahead of ourselves it's important to note that too much of anything even water, water toxicity exists. So, if you binge and do nothing but play video games all day, the risks probably out weight the benefits. According to a study from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, it is in fact possible to enjoy Video Games regularly and not become a flunkie. The study took data from "PISA", the "Program for International Student Assessment, and international survey that tests the math, reading, and science skills of fifteen–year–old students". The survey also collected information on things like how much time a student spends online playing games and their parent's education level and occupation though I wasn't too sure why. Using data from twelve thousand and four Australian students, the research assessed the correlation between playing video games online and academic performance. They found that students who played games almost every day performed substantially better in all categories, scoring fifteen points above average in math and reading, and seventeen points above Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Personal Narrative : My First Soccer Game There I was, sitting in my dad's sleek green Mazda heading to my very first soccer game. Four years old, prepared yet anxious, I couldn't believe this was going to happen after two weeks of practice, meeting my teammates, and having fun. I wasn't too sure what to expect from the other team. I was somewhat afraid that they'd be too big for me to compete with. I thought that it was somewhat funny that I had chosen to be a defender even though I was one of the smallest of my team. There was no time for those thoughts now, it was a nice sunny day and I was ready to prove that I was an important piece to the team and that I was definitely needed. "Are you one thousand percent ready for this this big day of yours?" my dad asked. "I know you chose to be a defender but if you manage to score a goal, I'll take you to Chuck E Cheese. Actually, because I had a good morning I'll take you if your team wins and I'll buy you so many coins for you to play games and win prizes." As I was arriving to the park, I could see many goal posts. I looked myself and I thought, "Dang! This is really happening." I was still nervous to play an actual game. I played a few practice games against my own teammates and sometimes against my brothers. I was comfortable playing against them because constantly playing against them got me accustomed to the way they played, but playing a whole different team was spooky because I didn't know how they played and or how good they were. "You okay?" my dad asked me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay About Video Games Descriptive Essay The best thing in the world to me I think is my video games because it gives me thrill ride of joy. Well because how every game played will never be the same because everything in different types of video games are different. People always say that video games hurt people's minds but to me it makes me really calm in my opinion. There's lots of video games that are kid friendly and also games that older adults should be playing that younger kids in my opinion shouldn't be playing. Video games are well known as violent and gruesome and sometimes even dangerous. The reason why that is because video game companies can do whatever they want because they have so much money and power. These big gaming companies bring out games that people would enjoy playing give an example Call of Duty, they come out with a new Call of Duty every year to make things interesting for gamers at home. The creators of Call of Duty this year was...show more content... My opinion about video games being a disease is a little over board because "it's like saying anything is a disease". "To me video games are my hobby that I love because everything about just gives me thrill ride of joy because everything about it is just super fun and addicting to play and never stop". The thing is video games to some people can really affect someone's life because of what they play maybe some younger child does it and then he or she does what the video games did or said theirs so many different opinions about video games and theirs so many different types of video games that are kid friendly or theirs games that younger children shouldn't be Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Creative Writing: The Greatest Video Game Essay I had always wanted to program, not just anything. I wanted to program video games. Not just any video game. I wanted to to program the greatest game ever made. I noticed that the reason people played them was because of the freedom they had, who wouldn't want freedom after working a boring job for the day, you want to be able to come home and relax from your boring, hard life. I noticed however, that the popularity of a game was determined by the degree of control one had over their "virtual life." There are games where you can control your character, and make it seem realistic. There are games where you can even control every aspect of that character's life. I wanted to do better. I wanted to be able to control the entire world. Why...show more content... At this point, intelligent primates had evolved ( to answer your question as to why our simulated universe mirrored our in a way, it's because of the parameters we used in the beginning. When you set the same balances of the basic elements, with a little luck you simply start to see planets and even primitive life form in the same way as ours. this is a widely discussed topic in our field, of which we pioneered.) It started small first, I would create a rock with my name on it, and send it to the bottom of the sea, or some undiscovered forest not yet made a habitat for the locals, sorta like an easter egg. They wouldn't notice, so I made my attempts less subtle. I formed the mathematical symbol Pi using rocky formations, this was invisible to groundlings, but from a slight elevation was obvious. I turned off the simulation, and went to bed. When I returned, scary things began occurring. I say the primitives had gathered upon a hilltop, the entire village was chanting, seemingly spurred on from the discovery of my easter egg. They began making idols similar to the symbol Pi, and worshiping them as a divine sign. I witnessed utter horror as they began making animals sacrifices, then human sacrifices (The program is not in real time, decades are mere seconds to the outside observer.) They argued with each other over the meaning of this symbol. I had to intervene. I created an avatar, a virtual Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Descriptive Essay On Video Games Video games are a fun hobby for people of all ages, Not all of them are the best but they are not the cause of violence outside of the living room. The image shown shows a lot of the misconceptions of people and how they jump to conclusions. This picture was drawn to show a boy playing video games before it cuts to the same person holding a gun in a menacing way. The sudden transition is powerful and sudden to emphasize the issue at hand. It then highlights all the possible issues that could have led to this situation. All of them are crossed out except for the one labeled video games which is the center of attention being surrounded by arrows. The caption shown says "It is an Inevitable Process: What else could possibly cause it?" This image is calling attention to one of the big problems in today's world. Everybody is so quick to blame something unaccepted instead of obvious issues presented in the situation. This is why this picture is so important today. All the recent shootings in today's world lead me to choose this image for the analysis. Video games are fun and innovative platforms for creative and interesting ideas to be brought into reality. Even the most violent video games can be popular for good reason. Nobody will support games that are not fun and interesting to play. These games may be violent but there is a clear divide between reality and games. If a child sees a person in space, walking on walls there is a clear split between real gravity and video game Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Video Game Is Good Or Bad For Video Games Essay Video Games: The Blame Game Joan Jett's song, "I don't give a damn bout my bad reputation" may seem to express the sentiment of the video game industry. Despite being accused of impairing academic achievement, leading to obesity, and contributing to violent behavior, the video game industry continues to market to children and to create an increasing number of violent games. Gamers are said to be isolated, antisocial, and lazy. It appears that this billion dollar industry has a blatant disregard for the public's wellbeing. However, the negative reputation of the video game industry and the stereotype of gamers is not accurate. The video game industry has been blamed for enabling a sedentary lifestyle, even though they have created fitness games targeting health conscious gamers to engage in physical activity. Playing video games is also blamed for diverting students' attention away from academics even though many video games are created that focus on education. The violent video games are blamed for leading to violent behavior despite the lack of scientific evidence. Not only is there a lack of evidence that video games cause detrimental effects to players, but there is actually evidence to the contrary. Although many people believe that playing video games can be harmful, playing video games can be beneficial to the player because they can improve your health, mental capabilities, and behavior. Playing video games has proven to be beneficial to your health and this Get more content on HelpWriting.net

And the 1st perspective is that one type of people think that online games is worst thing ever in the world and there another people, and they introducing 2nd perspective, who think that online games is good, because they play online games or have some connection to online games. And my thesis statement is that online games is good and most of people think like me. You cannot play onlinegame without anyone, so you speak to them, what is, of course, improving your communicate skills. At all, you this is good reason to think that online games are good and helpful. The second reason is that online games are improving the motor skills and reaction, because when you playing online games you need to do all fast and good (Nauchpok, 2014; Rodion, 2014). And to do this fast and good you need good reaction, to, for example, press button in an accurate moment to win the game, as it is in DOTA 2. In addition, online games improving motor skills because you need to, for example, press different buttons on your keyboard, so you must know where is that button, when you need to press it, or another example, game with mouse, you must move your hand fast and accurate to be a good player in most online games. • 9. Video Games Essay Have you ever wondered how games impact children? or why kids love to play them? Well your about to find out and the answer may be surprising. Video games were first introduced in the 1970s. By the end of that decade they had become a preferred childhood leisure activity, and adults responded with concern about the possible ill effects of the games on children. Early research on these effects was inconclusive. However, a resurgence in video game sales that began in the late 1980s after the introduction of the Nintendo system has renewed interest in examining the effects of video games. The increasingly realistic and exciting nature of electronic games has helped to make them enormously popular with children and youth. 79% of American...show more content... After playing this game, they were given a competitive reaction time task in which they played against another student. If they beat the other student, they got to deliver a loud "noise blast," and were able to control how loud and how long the noise blast would be. Students who had previously played the violent video game delivered longer noise blasts to their opponents (Anderson & Dill, 2000). In a study of 8th and 9th graders, students who played more violent video games were also more likely to see the world as a hostile place, to get into frequent arguments with teachers, and to be involved in physical fights It has often been suggested that violent video games are not the culprit for these types of behaviors; instead, the cause is underlying hostility. The argument goes, "Hostile kids get into more arguments and more fights. They also like to play more violent games." While this is true, it is not the whole story. This study measured children's trait hostility, and found that exposure to video game violence is a significant predictor of physical fights, even when students' sex, hostility level, and amount of video game playing are controlled statistically. If hostility were the whole story, then in general, only hostile children would tend to get into fights, and children with the lowest hostility scores would not get into physical fights regardless of their video game habits. • 10. Benefits of Playing Video Games Essay Video games have been argued about for decades. Some people have argued that video games are linked to violence. However, new research shows that video games can be used for therapeutic purposes, exercise, stress relievers, positive interactive learning, hand eye coordination, and different types of patient treatment for people all around the world. When playing video games, the coordination and concentration can physically, socially, and mentally benefit the user. Once the person starts to decrease their effort the volume will drop, and if they continue to decrease, the television will shut off leaving nothing to watch. This creates a good workout environment involving exercises and entertainment into a strict exercise agenda. Workout levels can range from heavy lifting or swimming (Recio 143). Well–known educational software is the project Scratch from MIT Media Lab [9], a programming language for learning to code. • 12. Top 5 Video Games Essay When people ask, "what is your favorite game of all time", you cannot help but feel somewhat lost in response. But when you put into context, and think very hard, the best you can do is narrow it down to a select few. And after much time and deliberation, I've managed to put it down to just 5. And that was only possible because I put the decade moniker on it. So, with that in mind, here are my top 5 games of the decade. #5: Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection: When you think of what you want in a hand held game, a lot of things may pop into your mind. You're going to want functional gameplay that works for the allotted buttons. You'll want fun, addictive, and challenging concepts. And most importantly, the ability to jump in and jump out ...show more content... As well as knowing that people will be playing this in short bursts, or may just chill on the can and level there character up. This was truly the pinnacle of Tekken fighting games this decade. And for that I tip my hat to the Namco Bandi team that worked on it. #4: Animal Crossing There are very few games that can make you want to stay at home, rather than going out with the boy's. Animal Crossing managed to do that, without it feeling like a drag. Every time you came home from work, or school, you would run strait to your purple lunch box, and check on your imaginary friends. And with good reason, the fishing contest was that day, and you needed to catch a bigger bass then that blasted hippo in Acer 4. Otherwise you would not get that pineapple bed you had your eye on. But once you're done with that, you got to clean your room. Saying that aloud now a days may sound somewhat insane, but when Animal Crossing had you in its clutches, it was all totally justified. And with its docile tones, simplistic control, and cutesy nature, you felt as if life was good. And it was, because you just got K.K. Sliders new single. Now your house was banging to the techno tunes of that rockin dog with a guitar. Not to mention you just got Joust in the mail from your mom. And when the store opens again tomorrow you can go sell your Jackknives, and go buy that painting from Redd for the museum. Just reminiscing about this game can give you

  • 14. The Video Game Narrative Essay The Video Game Narrative The first argument that arose out of the video game world was the debate of video game violence. Still unresolved, this debate has actually allowed for the video game industry to come fully into the main stream. As the din over violence quieted the fans of the game society began to focus on issues more akin to their own style. So then began the debate of game play vs. the video game narrative. The question arose; can a game also be a story? While the semantics would suggest that, no, a game cannot be a story, we do realize that a game can contain a story. However,...show more content... Initially it would seem that the answer is simple, leaning towards the same linear story we've dealt with for years; however, the ability to change the story depending on your own choices gives the game certain originality every time you play it. It ceases to be a storyteller and gives you the ability to choose. Ultimately, it seems, games of the role–playing genre will give you the ability to influence every decision down to the most minute aspect. The Sims (2000) allowed a player to create a single simulated person (a sim) or an entire family of sims, and each simulated day the player could control everything their sim did, ranging from going to work, watching TV, eating, and even going to the bathroom. This ultimate choice seems to make the story of a game less of a story, and more of a reality. However, the point of the game has no real climax and no end to the game, so it is in a genre of its own. It seems we should focus more on games that have a literal story line to get the answer. So, Knights of the Old Republic (2003) was released and quickly became the RPG of the year. It was awarded the title for graphical beauty, but most importantly, a revolutionary leveling system. As the game progressed your character gains experience from not only fighting, but from completing tasks and working with a myriad of objects and computers. But the more impressive feature was the influence that your character had Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Creating an Educational Video Game Essay Creating an Educational Video Game In the gaming world, there are many different types of games: sandbox, shooters, puzzle, RPG, platform and many more. One thing that is not seen is educational games; they are there but are in the few. Many factors are the cause for the scarce amount of these games. They need to be educational in a certain field; corresponding with math, reading or science. Therefore, they need to be fun to encourage players to continue playing the game as well as to retain its teachings. Then after that, it is crucial to demo the engine that will be used for the game, to make sure it has the abilities needed to complete the program successfully, or to select a new engine. The next thing in the design process is to create and input educational content in the game. Chose significant items that relate to the content of the game; furthermore, make sure it goes along with the story to keep the gamer entertained enough to continue use. The educational content to be included must consist of types, not just random information jumbled up to try to teach many topics at once. Upon finding what to teach to the player; generalize the data for a large audience. "Teaching reading comprehension...is different from the past, teachers need to focus on extensive comprehension instruction with all students... [do not assume] they are successful readers" (Gee 3). This is so that any player can start the game and begin learning regardless of their reading skills. Therefore, the levels can increase in complexity and in difficulty so that the player can begin to master the skills the game has to teach him without making it so easy that anyone can win. In this game, reading and literacy skills will be the main focus, it will use multiple teaching strategies including reading aloud, "in the read aloud strategy, the [game] reads out loud to the [player]... • 16. Essay on Video Games: Good or Bad? Many young children and teenagers have heard their mother's incessant plead to get away from the screen and to go outside or pick up a book for once instead. The urge to play "just one more level" before starting that homework or doing those chores can be quite distracting. But are video games really as awful as Mom exclaims or as brutal as those TV ads depict? It turns out that video games can have a strong impact on participants' lives in both positive as well as negative ways. When imagining the typical video gamer, one might envision the stereotypical overweight, slightly nerdy looking man who traps himself within his basement till two every morning leveling his character. This behavior, of course, has poor physical...show more content... Since several video games contain some sort of violent content, it has been hypothesized that gamers nowadays tend to be more aggressive. Gentile also states that "playing violent games increases aggressive behaviors, increases aggressive cognitions, [and] increases aggressive emotions." This is an intense list of negative consequences, but what makes violent games instill such hostility? Many video games today include multiplayer in addition to classical single player modes. With real life opponents, gamers are much more competitive and inclined to demonstrate dominance over friends and real life opponents. Whereas facing a computer can be competitive, there may be a stronger feeling of satisfaction after defeating a nonvirtual enemy which could translate into real life aggression towards real people. Though correlation does not mean causation, the fear that violent video games may increase problematic antagonism is clearly not misplaced. But not all video games are violent: in fact, video games can promote cohesion through cooperation rather than competition. Multiplayer games sometimes implement a cooperative mode enabling players to use teamwork to achieve a goal instead of contending for supremacy. This cooperative multiplayer encourages "(against the stereotype of gaming as a socially isolating action) the development of team, social, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Persuasive Essay About Video Games The Story of the Search I dedicate a large amount of my time to playng video games, and I often hear claims like, "video games rot your brain," and, "video games aren't healthy," but I wondered, are these common arguments actually true? I decided to find out. I already knew that there were some positive effects of video games and some negative effects, and I also knew that too much exposure to screens in general. However, I was not sure what exactly what the specific benefits and detriments were. What I hoped to learn was how video games affect the brain and the body, how they helped and hurt people, and what kinds of video games are the best and worst for you. In my research process, I would search for a different subquestion each day, and I would look for the most credible source I could find, and take down all the useful information. Sometimes I would find information that opened up a new area of research and would lead me to research it more. Using this process, I was able to find a large volume of useful, credible information and find answers to all my questions. The Results of The Search I was very surprised with the results of my search, as I was expecting mostly negative effects. However, the results were that video games had overwhelmingly positive effects on the brain. The first piece of information I found was that according to Sage Publishing, studies showed a strong, positive link between action video games showed and improving attention skills, brain Get more content on HelpWriting.net
