SMART CITY
A 'smart city' is an urban region that is highly advanced in terms of overall infrastructure,
sustainable real estate, communications and market viability. It‟s a city where information
technology is the principal infrastructure and the basis for providing essential services to
residents. It is an urban development vision to integrate information and communication
technology (ICT) and Internet of things (IoT) technology in a secure fashion to manage a
city's assets. A smart city is promoted to use urban informatics and technology to improve the
efficiency of services. ICT allows city officials to interact directly with the community and
the city infrastructure and to monitor what is happening in the city, how the city is evolving,
and how to enable a better quality of life. Through the use of sensors integrated with real-
time monitoring systems, data are collected from citizens and devices – then processed and
analysed. The information and knowledge gathered are keys to tackling inefficiency.
Information and communication technology (ICT) is used to enhance quality, performance
and interactivity of urban services, to reduce cost and resource consumption and to improve
contact between citizens and government.
According to the documents released on the Smart Cities website, the core infrastructure in
a smart city would include:
Adequate water supply
Assured electricity supply
Sanitation, including solid waste management
Efficient urban mobility and public transport
Affordable housing, especially for the poor
Robust IT connectivity and digitalisation
Good governance, especially e-Governance and citizen participation

Sustainable environment
Safety and security of citizens, particularly women, children and the elderly
Health and education
FEATURES OF SMART CITY:
Smart parking- There will be systems that will alert drivers when there is a free parking spot.
Citizens will no longer waste their time looking for a place to park and the city will be less
polluted.
Intelligent transport system- You probably won‟t have to wait to take advantage of this
feature. Many public transport systems are already interconnected. This allows for different
public transports to be coordinated and to provide information in real time.
Traffic management- Monitoring road systems will inform drivers about which route is best
at any given time. Also, it will automatically manage the traffic lights in order to reduce
congestion to the minimum taking into account the traffic volume at certain times of the day.
Waste management- Not all places generate the same kind or the same amount of waste.
With smart containers and a good fleet management system, the routes can be tailored to any
situation.
Smart city maintenance- Citizens will now be able to rely on systems to notify the City
Council of any damages in the urban elements through their smartphones. This way things
will be repaired faster.
Tele-care- Some medical consultations will no longer be necessary. There are monitorization
systems for patients which keep their doctor up to date when something such as a rise in
blood pressure or sugar occurs.
Digital-signage- Urban ads will be tailored to each citizen and advertising will provide
services. Whereas now we see many concert posters around the city, in the future the
customer will have the chance to actually buy the ticket via the billboard.

SMART CITY BUDGET
In the 2016-2017 Budget Session, the Finance Minister of India Mr. Arun Jaitely has
allotted 7,060 Crores of Rupees for 100 Smart Cities.
VELLORE FINANCIAL PLAN
The proposal estimates total project cost for a lifetime of 20 years is estimated to be at
Rs.4500 Cr including Rs 3450 Cr for area based development and Rs 1050 Cr
For pan city. The capital expenditure aims to create revenue generating assets, provide
basic services through enhancement of infrastructure and takes up programmatic
interventions for overall success of the proposal.
Project/activity wise estimates are provided and life cycle costing including-operation and
maintenance cost.

• Electricity, street lights and improved distribution systems design-Rs 170 Cr

CHALLENGES OF A SMART CITY
• Small portion of ICT in new city development.
• Technology changes too fast
• Too many stakeholders
• The India Smart Cities Challenge is a competition for municipal leaders and their partners
to promote economic opportunity in India, improve governance, and produce better
results for residents.
• In 2015, 98 cities competed in the first round, and the 20 best proposals received funding
from the Ministry of Urban Development.
• Bloomberg Philanthropies was the official Knowledge Partner to the Government of India
on the Challenge and drew on its global network to help to design and deliver the first
round of the competition.
CASE STUDY
We have taken three cities into consideration as these cities fulfill the need of smart cities.
We have taken “Chandigarh” “Navy Mumbai” “Noida” It has certain features such as:
• Smart parking
• Intelligent transport system
• Tele-care
• Traffic management
• Smart grids
• Smart urban lighting
• Waste management
• Smart city maintenance
• Smart taxi
• Digital-signage.

SOME FEATURES ABOUT NAVY MUMBAI:
1. Division of sectors/ Grid plan : Kalamboli is well planned. The streets are ordered in
increasing order of number from NH 4. All the main roads are connected to Mumbai
Pune Expressway.
2. Roads : Refer to IRC code books. There are 12 m sector roads (streets) and 23.5 m
roads (NH4)
3. Smart parking : Smart parking involves space efficient parking. In Kalamboli there
is provision of these parking in each house and on common plots.
4. Waste management : There is system of waste disposal in the area where
municipality trucks and vans come regularly.
5. Emergency accessible areas : The emergency areas include police stations, fire
stations, hospitals. In Kalamboli all these areas are nearby and located near the main
road. It helps in quick movement during emergency situations.
6. Power supply : The power is supplied in the area by Maharashtra Electricity Board
(MAHADISCOM). Some houses, offices and hotels have alternate sources of
energy such as Solar panals.
7. Drainage system : More than 90% of the population is covered by
8. Sewage network.
9. Close to 65% of the waste water is treated.
10. Waste water management : Kalamboli also has a Sewage Water Treatment Plant
owned by CIDCO. The terminal of Mumbai-Pune Expressway is at Kalamboli.
ROAD INTERSECTION DESIGNS
• As per our study, the roads of smart cities must have properly designed road junctions
with all the necessary facilities.
• In Kalamboli, junctions have traffic lights only on NH 4. In some areas inspite of heavy
traffic the junctions are not good built and lack some kind of facilities.
• The roads design must follow the traffic rules and must have necessary colour marking,
barriers, pedestrian crossing, solar powered traffic lights, sign boards, ramps etc.

SOME FEATURES ABOUT CHANDIGARH
RESIDENTIAL AREA
• Chandigarh has a total population of 10,55,686. Total land area of 114 square kilometres.
• Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park Phase-I is a special economic zone .
• The tertiary or services sector is the top sector in Chandigarh.
• Apartments, townships and residential complexes quickly on the rise in Chandigarh.
CONNECTIVITY
• The Chandigarh Airport connects the city to other major cities in India, and a new
international terminal is being constructed.
• The Chandigarh Railway Network is a part of the Northern Railway zone of the Indian
Railway network, and it links the city to major regions in the country.
• NH 21, which starts at the Punjab Mohali town border and goes up to the Haryana border,
passes through Chandigarh.
• Bus transport is operated from the Inter State Bus Terminals that are located in sectors 17
and 43 of the city.
DUMPYARD
• About 300 tonns of Municipal Solie waste is transported and disposed off at the site of
dumping ground situated at the west of Sector 38 near Dadu Majra Labour colony.
• At present the waste is disposed off through the process of 'Land-filling'. The Corporation
is in the process of establishing facilities for the processing of Municipal solid waste
by converting it into compost and wormi-compost.
STREET SYSTEM
• Heavy traffic would proceed at basement level.
• Lighter traffic at ground level.
• Fast traffic should flow along limited-access arterial roads that supplied rapid and
unobstructed cross-city movement.

• . There are six working metro stations in Noida and six under construction.
• Hospitals are nearly situated on or nearby the main roads.
• 19 major schools in Noida are spread all over the Noida.
• There is direct Airport connectivity of Noida to IGI airport on Delhi.
• Good Drainage System.
Cons
• There is no Indian Railways connectivity to Noida and Greater Noida.
• Noida is high earthquake prone area(IV).
• People in Noida generally face parking problem.
CITY PROFILE
QUALITY OF LIFE
a) Transportation Condition in the City:
• City-bus supply index of 16 (> Indian average – 15)
• Public to Private Transportation mode-share ratio= 38: 62; Pedestrian modal share -
30%
• 91% of the trip typology is home-based
• 7% of roads have been widened (last 3 years)
• With the shift of bus terminal to city's periphery, about 500 buses have been diverted
from stopping within the city.

b) Water availability in the city and reduction in water:
• The Corporation supplies 114 LPCD, 30% of the water distributed is NRW.
• Water supply augmentation initiative worth Rs 252 crore water supply to 68 MLD
and rehabilitate and upgrade the network infrastructure is underway.
• The treated wastewater is sent to Velavadi Lake for biological purification of water.
c) Solid waste management programs in the city:
• 240 Tons of waste is generated per day
• Initiated steps to move towards 100% resource recovery mechanisms through a
decentralized framework for waste management systems
• 42 locations across VCMC have been identified; 23 / 42 have commenced operations
• Source segregation efficiency has increased from 44.4% (FY13-14) to 62.5% (FY15-
16)
d) Safety/ security conditions in the city:
• Emergency Dial Number has been established by police department.
• The city has already established 112 CCTV cameras to monitor movement in 12
major signals and in all registered lodges.
• Special juvenile police units and women welfare units made operational.
• The crime rate has been reducing at the rate of 6% in the last three years.
e) Energy availability and reduction of outages in the city:
• The city depends on thermal power, with 8-10 scheduled outages and 18 unscheduled
outages a month (20% reduction from the 2013-14 levels)
• Special initiatives to reduce AT&C losses - Setting up of 745 transformers are
proposed of which 277 have been commissioned.
• About 5 AMMA Canteens rooftop space has been covered by solar panels to support
its daily operations.
f) Housing situation in the city, specifically role of municipality in expediting building plan
approvals:
• 848 houses were constructed and about 62% were constructed in-situ (last 3 years)

• 224 new housing units are proposed to be constructed (current year)
• Property tax collection witnessed a 5% increase in the last year.
• Structural reforms to enhance collection efficiency and building plan approvals are
underway.
ADMINISTRATIVE EFFICIENCY
a) Overall attendance of functionaries
• Attendance ledgers in the Corporation were replaced by finger print recognition
systems in FY12-13
• Upgraded attendance system to facial recognition systems in FY14-15 to make it
foolproof
• The Employee attendance is seamlessly connected to their pay-slips, increasing
accountability of staff attendance
b) Two-way communication between citizens
• Toll free information centre & phone based centralised tracking systems for updates
on birth and death certificate have been installed.
• The Hon'ble Mayor, Commissioner and the Collector hold weekly interactions with
the public to understand their grievances
• Grievance redressal time - 24 hours for Water & Sanitation; maximum 1 week based
on criticality
• The respective departments report closed & pending cases every week in front of the
Hon'ble Mayor and Commissioner
c) Use of e-Gov. to enable hassle free access to statutory documents.
• 29 E-governance modules are in the process of being implemented by World Bank
under Model City Program
• Out of the 29 modules, 12 modules are completely functional and 6 additional
modules are scheduled to be implemented in this financial year and the rest are to be
implemented by June 2017
• 2 E-Seva centers have been established and is fully operational in the city.
d) Availability of basic information relevant to citizens.

• VCMC website contains relevant details about Solid Waste Management, Water
Supply, Sewage, Roads, Street lights, Street Details, Bus Stands, Markets, Banking,
Hospitals, Police Stations, Fire Services and Important contacts in Vellore. All council
resolutions and a detailed citizen charter are disclosed on the webpage.
SWOT ANALYSIS
Based on the detailed city profiling, what are the strengths and developmental areas of the
city?
We conducted a detailed SWOT analysis of the city with all relevant metrics and data. We
covered Strengths of Vellore, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats to its overall growth.
SWOT Analysis helps us to identify the resources that are lacking in Vellore and the
elements that are Key in its growth, improvements in existing infrastructure. For a city to
develop in overall sense and include all the necessary features of a Smart City a complete
survey is a must.
STRENGTH
STRENGTH BY ADMINISTRATION
• Vellore City is a key gateway into Northern Tamil Nadu and an important corridor
city of strategic relevance.
• Vellore is one of the 3 cities identified by the World Bank to be developed as a model
city that will demonstrate the next generation of reforms on areas such as
a) Tax Non Tax/Land
b) Integrated Grievance redressal systems
c) Integrated Personal Management system
d) Vehicle management system
e) Hospital Management Systems
f) School Management Systems and Inventory Management systems.
STRENGTH BY INDUSTRIALIZATION
The city‟s proximity to Bangalore and Chennai coupled with the presence of vibrant
industrial leather belts in the region has catapulted the city‟s growth. Vellore witnessed a
19% decadal growth rate in the period from 2001-11, against the national urban average of
17.64%. Large residential pockets are developed in the periphery of the city to shelter

residents working in large scale industries like BHEL, Leather Taneries in Ranipet, TEL,
SIPCOT, etc.
STRENGTH BY E & H
Educational & Healthcare: Vellore hosts India's two most premiere educational institutions
namely Vellore Institute of Technology and Christian Medical College (CMC). Careers360
has ranked CMC Vellore first in Top Private Medical colleges in India for the year 2016.
The CMC also hosts a hospital and is often considered as the most prominent and respected
medical destination nationally and internationally. The institution receives approximately
1.25 lakh medical tourists every year owing to its high class medical facilities. VIT ranks
among top 10 universities in India and houses more than 75% of students coming from
other states of India. Apart from VIT, the city also houses several well established
educational institutions set up in early 19th century such as Voorhees College (1898) and
Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology.
STRENGTHS BY HERITAGE
Heritage: The city and the periphery areas also has a number of iconic spots for tourism
such as
a) Vellore Fort
b) Golden Temple
c) Government Museum
d) Science Park
e) Vainu Bappu Observatory
f) Amirthi Zoological Park
g) Yelagiri Hills.
The city already sees an average tourist footfall of 2.2 Lakh people which is steadily
increasing at a rate of 3% YoY.
WEAKNESS
Less than 6% of the city‟s space is currently available in the form of public
networks/streets. Being a key corridor city, a fairly large portion of the city‟s traffic is
dominated by inter-city and inter-state transport (Of the 375 buses plying in the city, about
79% of them are exclusively inter city buses), which contributes to a major chunk of the
congestion and pollution in the city. The city also suffers from a high dependence on

private transportation and auto rickshaws (The city has over 12,000 auto‟s plying in the
city, with an auto- to person ratio of 2381 auto per 1 lakh people -higher than cities like
Bangalore and Mumbai).
OPPORTUNITIES
As a linear city that has grown around the Bangalore-Chennai corridor, the city has great
potential to demonstrate the positive spill-over effects of „Transit-Oriented Development‟
and compact spaces. The city has moved towards decentralized systems of managing solid
and liquid waste in the city and thus holds the potential to evolve as a model template for
other mid-sized corporations in India. The presence of Vellore Institute of Technology,
with a vibrant culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, lends itself as an important
backbone to the city‟s technical educational infrastructure. Efforts to leverage this base to
catapult the city of Vellore to emerge as an innovation hub for high-end research in
engineering sciences is likely to yield high social and economic returns. World Bank has
chosen VCMC as one among three cities in Tamil Nadu to be developed as a Model City.
About 120 crore of investment has been allocated for VCMC to carry out structural reforms
and strengthen its e-governance systems. With additional Smart City Funds lined up,
Vellore can push the boundaries of innovation in „open data systems‟ and „participatory
governance‟.
THREATS
Institutional Capacities- Lack of investment in increasing institutional capacities and lack of
flexibility in hiring external experts to support public agencies.
Migration- As inequities between city and other parts of rural Tamil Nadu and Andhra
Pradesh increases and with increasing ease to access metropolitan cities from a central point
like Vellore, there is likelihood of large scale migration putting strain on its infrastructure
and creating uncontrolled urban sprawl.
Environmentally Sensitive Zones - Surrounded by environmentally sensitive areas, urban
development must be strongly inspected to avoid unforeseen ecological disturbances.
Protection of the green belt alongside the hills and the river belt from pollution and
encroachment is an important priority.

CITY VISION AND GOALS
What should be the vision of the city based on the strategic blueprint?
“A Model Swachh City with Improved, Responsive and Inclusive Service Delivery that
promotes Medical, Educational & Heritage Tourism”
VISION 1: To become a preferred Medical - Educational - Heritage - Tourist Destination.
Goal 1: Ease access to the city
Action: Creation of a "City Information Centre" and establishing an online data portal
verified by the city government for lodges, house rentals, language translators, multi-
cuisine cooks and restaurants, guided tours and patient personal assistants thus creating an
authentic demand supply matching enabler in a service sector driven city.
Goal 2: Ease mobility around the city
Action: Creation of patient friendly infrastructure in railway station, bus terminus, bus
stops, buses, pedestrian pathways, parks; creation of multi lingual digital display boards in
public spaces and city transport services; creation of multi lingual help desk in city; digital
and static signage boards in every junction with neighbourhood locality map, important
landmarks and heritage points marked in every junction; creation of smart parking
facilities; creation of cycling track with modern bicycles encouraging multiple drop off
points across identified tourism attraction points / public places / hospital units / transit
hubs / bike & car parking slots.
Goal 3: To become Educational & Research Hub
Action: Creation of immersive learning experience for students by implementation of
technological demonstrations of experiments and complex theories in exclusive parks by
collaborating with India's premiere educational institutions. Creation of Sky observatory
center and an am phi theatre to encourage studies and discussion on astrophysics in
collaboration with educational institutions and District Science Center. Creation of
"Incubation Centre" to support innovation and aid students to think beyond boundaries and
encourage them to achieve country's "Make in India" vision. Creation of single window
application processing system for incorporation of business entities emerging from the
proposed Incubation Centre within Vellore district to aid economic development.
VISION 2: Model SWACHH City
Goal 4: Provide State of the Art Solid Waste Management Services
Action: Development of Decentralized Waste Management framework such that waste is
managed within the city and establish as a model mid-sized Corporation in India. Develop

an end-end waste management monitoring framework for tracking segregation efficiency at
a micro level and aggregated level and establishing the solid waste management efficiency
in open data portals. Utilization of waste in a scientific manner by establishing Material
Recovery Facility Pyrolysis Plant, apart from the existing fully operational decentralized
organic waste recycling facilities. Establishing help desk for on-demand bulk waste
collection, construction debris and garden waste collection and utilization. Creation of city
cleanliness reporting system as mobile app open for ward level nodal officers and citizen to
effectively monitor the overall city cleanliness and help improve the city reach highest
cleanliness standards.
VISION 3: Improved, Responsive and Inclusive Service Delivery
Goal 5: Improve city's core infrastructure by ensuring inclusive and equitable
Development
Action: Improved water services delivery and monitoring, Reduction of NRW,
Underground ducting and improved physical infrastructure aesthetics, Smart metering, at
least 10% of ABD energy demand generated through renewable energy sources located
within the locality, Improved roads, Improved housing and slum development,
decongesting cluttered houses and encouraging mixed land use by relocating existing heavy
vehicle garage shops from Old-bypass road and redevelopment of the area, 100% Internet
connectivity and Central monitoring system, „promoting open –data systems‟ with strong
citizen feedback loops, Continuous research on big data collected through ICT systems and
constant feedback to the line departments for improving service delivery.
CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT

SAMPLE OF TECHNOLOGIES
The concept of sustainable building incorporates and integrates a variety of strategies
during the design, construction and operation of building projects. The use of green
building materials and products represents one important strategy in the design of a
building.
Green building materials offer specific benefits to the building owner and building
occupants:
• Reduced maintenance/replacement costs over the life of the building
• Energy conservation.
• Improved occupant health and productivity.
• Lower costs associated with changing space configurations.
• Greater design flexibility.
ENERGY EFFICIENT SYSTEMS
Definition: “The energy performance of a building shall be determined on the basis of the
calculated or actual annual energy that is consumed in order to meet the different needs
associated with its typical use and shall reflect the heating energy needs and cooling energy
needs (energy needed to avoid overheating) to maintain the envisaged temperature
conditions of the building, and domestic hot water needs.”
PUBLIC Wi-Fi CONNECTIVITY
How will public Wi-Fi connectivity help?
Here are a few ways in which people (from both urban and rural areas) in India will benefit
from it:
1. It helps tourists (not just foreigners but also natives who are keen on exploring
different parts of our country) by providing them with easy access to internet. This allows
them to book cabs, recharge their mobile, google for the exact location of their hotel etc.
Providing such valuable services will help enhance the travel experience and boost tourism
in India.
2. It provides the poor from India's far flung corners with free, high-speed Wi-Fi that
they could use to access government services and other important content. Internet, could
be more useful to those in rural areas than .those who dwell in urban areas.
3. It also allows people to check the train timetable, departure and arrival timings, status
of connecting trains etc.

4. Providing free access to information would put an end to fraudulent touts and
middlemen who try to sell necessary services at a higher rate.
5. A huge chunk of the Indian population uses trains to travel to work daily. Free Wi-Fi
allows them to check emails, message friends/family members on the journey update while
waiting for the train etc.
6. Trains are also extensively used by students to travel. Free Wi-Fi allows to go online
and entertain themselves by streaming videos and checking on Facebook while they wait
for their train to arrive.
The plan of WiFi connectivity shows the block diagram of the proposed technology.
IMPROPER TAFFIC MANAGEMENT
The existing roads can be sufficiently widen to provide space for footpath and Bicycle
lanes.
The plan attached gives more information.
DRAINAGE-SYSTEM
An effective drainage system must be able to self-clean to ensure the wastewater passes
freely through the system to the authority sewer. Velocity is determined by a combination
of gradient and pipe diameter. A small diameter drain will give a greater depth of water in
the pipe. This results in a greater velocity of water flow than a large diameter drain carrying
the same volume of water. The faster flow of water will ensure solids are not left behind in
the pipe. Drains operate most efficiently when the ratio of the liquid to air in the pipe is
65:35. This ensures adequate ventilation through the system and allows drains to flow at a
rate to allow them to self-clean. You must accurately size sanitary drainage systems to
ensure the 65:35 ratio is maintained.
Solution
Drainage typically means controlling falling water to move it away from the home and
preventing ponding that can affect landscaping. This means storm drainage, rain water,
surface water, etc. Drainage issues usually occur because of ponding or standing water that
doesn‟t go away and forms puddles around the property. There is need to construct a proper
channelized drainage system for a city to ease the waste removal and keep it clean and
disease free.

POLLUTION OF AIR
Pollution control of air can be done by –
1. Installation of filters on chimney of factories.
2. Electrostatic Precipitators.
3. Wet Process
It is a major bottle neck for many urban areas. Adverse air quality can kill many
organisms including humans. Ozone pollution can cause respiratory disease,
cardiovascular disease, throat inflammation, chest pain, and congestion. Water pollution
causes approximately 14,000 deaths per day, mostly due to contamination of drinking
water by untreated sewage in developing countries. An estimated 500 million Indians
have no access to a proper toilet, Over ten million people in India fell ill with waterborne
illnesses in 2013, and 1,535 people died, most of them children. Nearly 500 million
Chinese lack access to safe drinking water. A 2010 analysis estimated that 1.2 million
people died prematurely each year in China because of air pollution. The WHO estimated
in 2007 that air pollution causes half a million deaths per year in India
PAN-CITY PROPOSAL
A pan-city smart solution should benefit the entire city through application of
ICT(Information and Communication Technologies) and resulting improvement in local
governance and delivery of public services. The SCP (Smart City Proposal) should contain
one or two such Smart Solutions. Generally, „smartness‟ refers to doing more with less,
building upon existing infrastructural assets and resources and proposing resource efficient
initiatives.
Summary
Integrated Mobility System(IMS): IMS is built as a layer over network of feeders and
integrated bus fleet system to empower the citizen with real time information and increase the
convenience of public transport, thereby bringing about a 25% modal shift from private to
public transportation within the city.
Decentralized waste Management System(DWMS): VCMC(Vellore City Municipal
Corporation) has initiated a bold to manage its waste at 43 decentralized locations in the city.
A comprehensive decision support and monitoring system is proposed to enable the city to
sustain its decentralized operations in cost effective and efficient manner.

a. Increase the number of intra-city buses.
b. Introduce a feeder system to transport people from interior rods to arterial roads.
ii).Intelligent Public Transport Systems
a. Tracking the exact bus location.
b. Display board at every bus stop and feeder pick-up points.
iii). Traffic research and modelling centre.
a. Continuous monitoring of vehicular movement at the major junctions by CCTV cameras.
iv). Public Information Systems
a. Multi-lingual mobile app for tourists to identify bus routes, plan their travel within the
city and identify the city‟s heritage, eateries, accommodation, public toilets, etc.
b. Decongest traffic within the city by routing all commercial vehicles and inter-city buses
through Green Circle Polur-Vellore Road, between 6 AM to 10PM.
c. New real estate policy and development control rules for specific areas by the ending of
2017-18.
2. DWMS(Decentralized Waste Management System)
i. GIS-enabled refuse collection vehicles with mounted mobile devices.
ii. Handheld mobile devices for ward-wise nodal officers
iii. Refuse collection vehicle tracking systems
iv. Evaluation of quality of segregated waste from every user
v. M&E framework for refuse collectors waste segregation efficiency

CONCLUSION
After detail study of Vellore City, we draw some conclusions.
a) Vellore lacks ICT Infrastructure, it has to be worked upon.
b) It has to grow its infrastructure both by IT and Real Estate wise to become a hub of
North Tamil Nadu.
c) City is proper planned sector and area wise but lack in proper planning of roads is
there.
d) Energy efficient buildings and systems has to be brought out in order to reduce power
consumption, and thus provide uninterrupted power supply.
e) Drainage systems should be worked upon in order to avoid water clogging in rainy
season and overflow of drains.
f) Efficient ways of parking must come up, as to avoid parking on roads thus
interrupting the traffic flow.
g) Pollution of air is a major issue, by using new technologies this also can be brought
under control.
