Target Audience
18–24-year-olds
Rationale: My rationale is that younger individuals prefer quirky and weird things, thus a quirky
and weird tour would pique their interests. Furthermore, my project will be based near Fossgate
which is a central area for young people in York. The shambles is one of the locations in which
Harry Potter was filmed and is a tourist destination that everyone goes to, it’s a movie that people
in that age category grew up watching and brings a level of nostalgia with it. The minster is
probably the most notable location in York, and is a spot that everyone wants to go to just to say
that they’ve seen it and snap a pick.
Project Concept:
The project will be in a short informative video format and will feature at least 5 different locations
all spaced within a short distance of one another (all under 2 minutes). Some of these locations will
be funny, and others will be of notable locations that people would want to visit/places where
people would go to hang out.
I will need to research into the locations that fit these criteria.
I am thinking that the shambles and the minster may be locations in which I want to explore, as I
believe it would be interesting to approach an older site as one of my locations and maybe theme
the shambles around harry potter in some way or another.
I will also need to do some research into existing products in a similar format, as I way decided to
take some more stylist approaches based on their influence. Researching some statistics about
my audience is a must, as the audience is who will be watching the video,
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I plan to get feedback from my peers about my work and its suitability for said target audience, as
my peers are all within said category, and if the majority like it, I will know that I have succeeded if
my peers have a generally positive response, and if I failed based on their reactions.
