Audio Narration:
The district manager will typically do two things at the start of their day:
Look at their district numbers to see how they did in sales and labor
Look for items that need their action in their district/region
While it can be difficult to determine what items fall into the 'need action' category, some of they typical things would probably be:
• Pay Adjustments
• High Dollar Amounts
• Large number of adjustments
• Large number of Schedule Adjustments
• Large number of Punch Exceptions
Typically the district manager doesn't care about the details of these types of items unless they are of the level that needs attention. Stores that are operating within acceptable ranges don't require his action on these items. But the manager will want to take action with stores that are outside of normal ranges

A District Manager is responsible for the labor performance of all the stores that fall within his/her assigned district. This involves tracking sales at the stores and the corresponding labor hours that are employed to service the sales. The three main data elements important to a DM are the actual sales dollars, the labor hours used and the associated labor costs. The DM needs the flexibility to report on these numbers at the district level as well as at the individual store level so that he can identify any exceptions and take any followup corrective action if required. The exceptions are identified in terms of how much the actual sales dollars, the labor hours and labor costs vary from forecasted and budgeted values.

Audio Narration:
A District Manager is accountable for the labor costs incurred at various stores within his district. Labor costs are paid out at fixed intervals, referred to as pay periods. This includes paying the hourly wage workers as well as salaried wage workers. The hours worked by an hourly employee are categorized into various categories such as regular, overtime, holiday pay, etc. depending on how many total hours were worked in the pay period, time of the day when the employee worked and a combination of various state and local labor laws. The DM is interested in knowing what categories account for his labor costs in a given pay period for a specific store or all the stores in his district. This enables him to identify any categories (especially the overtime ones) that are incurring costs beyond their expected levels so that he can take necessary steps to get them back under control. The Pay Summary report provides information on labor hours and costs by category for a store or for the entire district for the pay period.
