Engineering Internship
The City of St. Peters, Missouri Engineering Department | Summer 2016 – Present
o Assist the City Engineer and Project Engineers on stormwater improvement projects such as the retrofit of traditional
detention basins into water quality improvement basins
o Evaluate estimated costs versus actual cost of completed projects to forecast a new budget for upcoming projects
o Assess residential drainage concerns to determine if modifications to the stormwater system need to be made using
the Metropolitan Sewer Department (MSD) guidelines and completing a construction cost estimate for said concerns
o Conduct inspections on detention basins throughout the City to diagnose if the basins were in passing or failing
conditions and then sent a corresponding letter to owners
o Acquired skills in using the GIS program ArcMap for everyday use as well as editing map layers, polygons, line
segments, and attributes for the purpose of updating the City’s Stormwater Master Plan
CE-493 Senior Design - City of St. Peters Aquatic Center | Fall 2016
o Designing a new parking lot, detention basin, and roadway relocation for the City of St. Peters new aquatic center
o Focusing on the analysis of the watershed area, flood plain area, water quality improvements, storm sewer design, and
an overall cost estimate that the City can use during the final design stages
o Using AutoCAD, Storm Water Management Model (SWMM), ArcMap, and MSD guidelines to conduct above
analyses
Educational Experience
CE-492 Stormwater Management | Spring 2016
o Lead a group project that designed a stormwater system for a residential area, public school, and a “big box” store
using MSD guidelines
o Used SWMM to determine pre- and post-construction water quality and quantity conditions of the project
CE-460 Municipal Infrastructure Design | Spring 2016
o Designed a major roadway including the intersections and justification for traffic control devices using AutoCAD
given the zoning requirements and contour maps for the new development
o Worked with WaterCAD to design a water distribution network for the same new development
CE-487 Water Treatment Design | Fall 2015
o Studied the process and design of potable water treatment emphasizing on chemical and physical unit operations
o Designed a treatment plant for a ten million gallon per day capacity
CE-342/343 Structural Engineering I and II | Fall 2015 and Spring 2016
o Covered structural analysis and design of beams, frames, and trusses
o Learned how to apply the Steel and Concrete Construction Manuals for the design portion of both classes
CE-376 Transportation Engineering | Spring 2015
o Conducted a speed study and analyzed crash data along a section of roadway using basic transportation concepts such
as flow rate, highway design, and safety factors
