Acting Programme Manager on the Infrastructure and Sustainable Development Department for AAP covering
Bulk Logistics (Water, Roads, Rail and Transport) and Community Engagement and Development Infrastructure
Projects Technical Services. The role covers strategy, planning and assurance on bulk logistics initiatives
executed through multi producer and stakeholder forums (Private Public Partnerships) across the eastern and
western limb operating regions. The role further required national, provincial, municipal and other government
services authorities’ alignment and guidance (including skills/capacity building) on their infrastructure
development (to meet the National Development Plan, associated SIPs and IDPs). The largest project is an
R4bn (2012) water transfer between Flag Boshielo Dam and Sekhukhune scheme which is part of the R14 billion
Olifants River Water Resource Development Programme (ORWRDP) supporting the Limpopo and Mpumalanga
regions. The benefits of economies of scale, multiple contributor and community development enhance the
business case and mitigate risks of safety and growth constraints due to limited infrastructure. The role also
covered the assurance, support and integration of community infrastructure projects that support our Social
Labour Plans (the business’ rights to mine) as well as providing the responsible sustainable growth within the
communities we operate in.
During the 2013 AAP restructuring, I co-lead the set-up of the AAP Infrastructure department, strategies, service
catalogues, processes, service level agreements, role profiling and recruitment of the team members.

Infrastructure
Manager
Infrastructure
and Condor
Infrastructure
Separation and
Transaction
Coordinator
I lead and assist with enabling infrastructure partnership processes for AAplc and AAP. It requires the
integration with other mining companies (through forums) and is linked to various government entities. The role
provides development and support of strategic bulk infrastructure (road, rail and water) initiatives, from a national
to local level. Initiatives/projects include: the N11 road upgrade and bypass; R37 road upgrade; D4170/80 road
upgrade partnerships; R510 upgrade; R24 road extension planning; development of the AAP Transport Strategy
& Integrated Transport Risk Management Plan across all AAP operations and projects as well as support to the
AAplc Group Transport Task Team and associated Group Technical Standard inputs, roll out and safety initiative
programmes. I also set up and am involved in various regional Road Safety Forums (N11 and R37). I further
guide, align, support and assure the AAP Social Performance (Social Labour Plan) infrastructure projects.
I am also the AAP representative on the AAplc Work Stream 10 initiatives that cover the Group’s developmental
partnerships on Infrastructure with other Business Units and Government. On behalf of AAP, I also participated
in the Premiers Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET)
infrastructure task team.
During this period I am also the Condor (Rustenburg Mines Sale) Infrastructure Separation and Transaction
Coordinator. The role provides technical and transactional guidance, assurance, support, monitoring and
development of the Condor infrastructure separation and transactional components (agreements, scopes, plans
and structures). It necessitates the coordination with various AAP functional (engineering, projects, finance,
legal, environmental, technical, process, mining, operational, etc) stakeholders as well as the Purchaser and
other third parties/stakeholders.

5. CAREER PURPOSE
I have 21 years’ experience in engineering, project, programme and
business management in the building, infrastructure, mining and processing
industries. I have successfully delivered studies and projects/businesses
valued at over R25bn across Coal, Diamonds, Gold, Zinc, Minerals and
Platinum commodities throughout South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe,
Namibia, DRC and Columbia.
My specialties include Engineering, Project, Programme, Strategy and
Business Management/Improvement for Mining houses and Infrastructure
entities. I strongly promote responsible leadership in developmental mining.
I am fluent in English, Afrikaans and Portuguese.
As the Manager Infrastructure, I play a pioneering and leading role in
developing and assisting with partnership processes between AAplc/AAP
RSA, other mining companies and linked to various government ministries
and associated public service structures. The purpose of my function is to
support strategic bulk civil infrastructure initiatives (mainly water and
logistics/transport), from the National Development Plan through to local
Infrastructure Development Plans, that are aligned with the mining/business
requirements and in turn mitigate the high and ever increasing industry and
social risks of infrastructure delivery, effectiveness and cost.
My vision as a mining business representative and through civil enabling
infrastructure management and collaborative partnerships, is to efficiently
deliver improved business and social objectives for the benefit of all
stakeholders.
