TITLE
OF
THE
TASK:
REFLECTION
ON
THANKSGIVING
MEANING
AIM
OF
THE
TASK:
In
my
Unit
I
am
presenting
a
cultural
topic,
Thanksgiving,
together
with
Art
and
Math
issues
(colours
and
geometry).
This
activity
fosters
the
students
to
reflect
on
the
meaning
of
the
holiday
in
a
funny
and
different
way,
creating
their
own
digital
poster.
On
the
same
time,
it
allows
the
teacher
to
check
if
they
understood
the
meaning
of
this
holiday
and
so
they
are
ready
to
explain
how
and
why
they
would
celebrate
it
in
their
country
or
if
more
activities
are
necessary
to
make
them
understand
Thanksgiving
core
concepts.
Moreover,
as
digital
poster
allows
them
to
scroll
the
pages
up
and
down,
they
can
review
concepts
and
ideas
in
a
more
entertaining
way.

DESCRIPTION
OF
THE
TASK:
In
the
third
lesson,
kids
have
to
reflect
about
Thanksgiving
and
Its
meaning
and
fill
a
chart
with
their
own
thoughts
(Connect,
Extend
and
Challenge
activity).
The
activity
is
done
using
Prezi.
Firstly,
the
class
is
divided
in
small
groups.
Each
student
or
at
least
each
team
needs
a
computer
with
Internet
access.
Secondly,
a
Prezi
blackboard
is
presented
to
students
through
a
projector
or
directly
in
their
computer.
The
board
is
divided
in
3
big
spaces,
each
one
with
some
questions
to
answer.
Here
below
the
questions
to
guide
students’
reasoning.
1. Connect:
Before
this
unit,
was
did
you
know
about
Thanksgiving?
When
and
to
whom
did
you
say
“thank
you”?
2. Extend:
What
new
ideas
have
you
learnt?
Did
you
like
the
idea
to
have
a
special
day
to
say
thanks?
What
are
you
thankful
for?
3. Challenge:
What
is
still
unclear?
Any
questions?
Thirdly,
the
teacher
reads
aloud
and
explains
the
task.
Students
have
to
write
one
or
more
answers
for
each
question
in
the
apposite
space,
paying
attention
to
use
a
special
colour
and
the
appropriate
space
to
reply
to
the
question
“I
am
Thankful
for”.
They
can
write
directly
on
the
webpage,
publishing
posts.
Finally,
once
all
the
teams
completed
the
task,
the
collaborative
Prezi
is
read
in
class,
to
correct
any
possible
mistakes
(such
as
misspellings)
and
clarify
any
doubts.
In
the
next
step,
the
students
have
to
draw
or
describe
how
they
would
like
to
celebrate
Thanksgiving
in
their
own
city.
If
they
have
a
level
of
language
good
enough
to
describe
its
idea,
Prezi
can
be
used
again
and
another
post
of
a
different
colour
is
used.
Otherwise,
they
can
draw
manually
their
idea
and
it
can
be
hang
up
in
class
or
scanned
and
uploaded
as
an
image
in
the
Prezi.

WEB
TOOL

Prezi:

Tutorial
about
the
web
tool.
As
the
students
are
quite
young,
the
teacher
shows
them
directly
how
to
use
Prezi,
using
herself
as
example.
Students
will
only
need
to
know
how
to
add
text
(clicking
on
the
space),
change
the
font
colour
(visual
menu
on
Prezi)
or
insert
images
(dragging
from
the
desktop
to
the
place
where
we
want
to
put
it
and
adjust
it
using
the
menu).
No
tutorial
video
will
be
shown
as
the
tool
is
quite
intuitive
and
very
easily
to
use,
while
the
videos
are
usually
too
complicated
for
such
young
students
(see
an
example
at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMHBNa5KGJ0
).
Nevertheless,
there
is
very
basic
and
short
Prezi
presentation
to
show
how
to
move
texts
on
Prezi
screen,
which
can
be
fun
for
them:
