• Tughluq dynasty ruled for centruies
• There where two powerful sultans-Muhammad-bin Tughluq and Firoz
Shah Tughluq.
3. GHIYAS-UD-DIN TUGHLUQ
• He reigned over the Sultanate of Delhi from 1320 to 1325
.• The founder of this dynasty.
• He defeated the rebellion.
• Succeeded by his son Muhammed-bin Tughluq.
4. • Son of Ghiyas-ud-din Tughluq.
• He was a powerful ruler.
• Had great ideas and plans but failed.

5. Shift of the capital
• Shift from delhi to daulatabad (devagiri).
• The reasons were:-
☻ The Sultan felt it easy to control.
☻ And due to mongol attacks.
• Devagiri is located in the centre so it will be
possible to control both north and south.
6. Khurasan expedition
• For expanding the empire,Muhammad-bin Tughluq decided to conquer Khurasan in central
asia.
• Raised a large army and spent a lot of money on weapons and other war supplies.
• The soldiers were given one year salary as an advance.
• Soon Muhammad-bin Tughluq became very inpopular.• Lost the trust of his nobles.
• Revolts broke out in Bengal, Gujarat, Warangal and other places.
7. • Cousin of Muhammad-bin Tughluq.
• Supported the nobles and the ulema to rule
peacefully.
• They gave him bigger iqtas, which were made
hereditary. during the death of a noble, his
iqta would be passed this son.
• To please the ulema , he ruled according to
Islamic laws.
