This document discusses two types of sentences: interrogative sentences and compound sentences. It defines interrogative sentences as questions that often begin with interrogative pronouns like who, what, when, where, why, which, whose, and whom. 3. INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE
• An interrogative sentence is a sentence that ask a question. Interrogative
sentences can be direct or indirect, begin with or without pronouns, and
feature yes/no interrogatives, alternative questions, or tag questions.
Interrogative sentences often start with interrogative pronouns and end
with a question mark.
• Interrogative pronouns, typically “WH” words include “who”, “what”,
“when”, “where”, “why”, “which”, “whose”, and “whom”.
• Auxiliary are also used in interrogative sentences such as “Did” .
Examples
1. “Which” sweater goes best with these pants?
2. “Are” you more interested in reading books?

4. Compound sentence
• A compound sentence is a sentence that connects two independent clauses(that
can stand alone as separate sentence) , typically with a coordinating conjunction like
and or but. They are best for combining two or more self-sufficient and related
sentences into a single, unified one.
• Compound sentences can easily identify by remembering FANBOYS: For, And,
Nor, But, Or, Yet, and So.
• Compound sentence can also use a semicolon.
Examples
1. I have a pet iguana, and his name is Fluffy.
2. I have a pet iguana; his name is Fluffy.
In these examples two independent clauses are used. In example 1 conjunction is
used while in example 2 semicolon is used to separate two independent clauses.
