The farmers can only sell his produce through a
licenesed commision agent like arthi.the commision
agent gets commisions of 5% on fruit and 8% on
vegetables on the produce sold in the auction

25. Cotton production in Pakistan
Cotton production is 15 million bales of 470 pounds
(210 kg) each in the form of phutti (seed cotton)
during 2016–17, which was an 11% rise compared to the
previous season (2014–15).
Production-wise, as of 2016–17, Pakistan occupied the
fourth position among the cotton growers of the world,
the first three being China, India and the United
Statesmen development of the country.

30. Maize
In Pakistan, maize is the 4th largest grown crop after
wheat, cotton and rice.
The area under maize here is over one million hectares

Punjab contributes 39 per cent of the total area under
maize and 30 per cent of total production
KPK contributes 56 per cent of the total area and 63
per cent of the production.
Five per cent of the total area and three per cent of the
total production is contributed by Sindh and
Baluchistan.

34. Sugarcane
Pakistan occupies an important position in cane
producing countries of the world.
It ranks at the 5TH position in cane acreage and
production and Sugarcane is grown on an area of more
or less one million hectares in Pakistan.
The Punjab shares 62 %, Sindh 26 % and N.W.F.P.
shares 16 % of the total area.
Most 15th position in sugar production.
