Types of data
1. Discrete Data
We speak of discrete data if its values are distinct and separate. In
other words: We speak of discrete data if the data can only take on
certain values. This type of data cannot be measured but it can be
counted.
Example:
The number of students in a class.
2. Continuous Data
Continuous data represents measurements and their values cannot be counted
but they can be measured.
Example
A persons height which can be any value
3. Quantitative Data
Quantitative data is information about quantities; that is, information that can
be measured and written down with numbers
Example
A persons shoe size is Quantitative
4. Qualitative Data
Qualitative data is information about qualities; information that cannot
actually be measured.
Example
The colour of a person’s eye is Qualitative
