42. Trueing
Trueing is called the process
of changing the shape of the
wheel, which is resulting due
to the loss of original shape
when the grinding wheel is
wornout as a result of
breaking away of the
abrasive grains & bond.
43. Dressing
The dressing of grinding
wheel done to remove the
loading and to breakaway
the glazed surface of the
wheel, to bring out the
sharp abrasive particles
for the grinding the work.
45. Dressers
1. Metal Crushers.
2. Abrasive sticks/wheels
3. Diamond Dressers
1. Single point diamond dresser
2. Single set and matrix diamond
dresser
3. Rotary and stationary diamond
rolls
4. Crushing rolls
53. Vitrified Bonds
It is most commonly used
bond.
The process of wheel making
consists of mixing abrasive
grains with ceramic clays or
porcelains, shaping the
mixture into wheel shape,
drying and baking at 1300 °C
54. Mineral Bonds
For making wheels with this
bond,the abrasive grains are
mixed with sodium silicate
and clays.
The mixture is moulded into
wheel shape and baked at
260 °C for about 20 hours.
55. Organic Bonds
For making wheels with
organic bond,the abrasive
grains are mixed with organic
material like
shellac,phenolic
resins,rubber etc.
Moulded into wheel shape
and baked at 150 °C.
56. Types of Grinding Wheels
Based on bonding
materials
Based on wheel’s grade
Based on structure
Based on wheel shape
69. Manufacturer’s Mark To
Identify The Wheel
This is not compulsory.
It is the symbol given by the
manufacturer of the wheel for
its identification.
It is generally shown by
figures
