Is a serious mental illness characterized by incoherent or
illogical thoughts, bizarre behavior and speech, and
delusions or hallucinations, such as hearing voices.

Positive Vs. Negative Symptoms
Positive symptoms-are seen in healthy
people, the symptoms come and go, for
some they become stable, or they can
be severe but other times unnoticeable.
Positive symptoms include:
• Hallucinations-When a person hears,
smells, taste, or feels things that are not
real.
• Delusions- When a person believes
things that are not true.
• Thoughts disorders- When a person has
ways of thinking that are odd or illogical.
• Movement Disorders-When a person
exhibits abnormal body movements.
Negative symptoms- is social
withdrawal, difficulty showing emotions,
or difficulty functioning normal.
Negative Symptoms include.
• Talking in a dull voice
• Showing no facial expression, such as a
smile or frown.
• Having trouble experiencing happiness.
• Having trouble planning and stciking with
an activity.
• Talking very little to other people, even
when it is important.

illnesses, such as depression or bipolar disorder
