4. History of the MLB All-Star Game
• Also known as the “Midsummer Classic”, it is played in July
• The best players from the A.L. play against the N.L.
• July 6th, 1933, was the first ASG
• From 2003 - 2017 the ASG decided home field advantage in the World Series
• The 2019 ASG is in Cleveland, Ohio

5. Fan Voting & the All-Star Game
• Fans can vote for each position on the field except the pitchers for the ASG starters
• Typically, the team that won the World Series the previous year, gets a lot of ASG
player votes with fan engagement at a high
• Before the late 90’s & early 2000’s,fans used to vote through an actual ballot.
• In 2015 the ballot went strictly digital. In year one of the change, vote totals went up
from 27.4M to 620M

6. The Final Vote
• Created in 2002
• Twitter became the main place for the engagement of the Final Vote
• Five players are selected from each league who did not make the final cut,
with one being awarded a spot from both the A.L. & N.L.
• Teams get very compeitive on Twitter, creating Hashtags for online
campaigns for their player & creating “partnerships” with other clubs

• The Girl Scouts had two objectives in mind, gain traction on their website and on their
mobile app
• The @GirlScouts Twitter account used a Twitter App Install campaign that had an "App
Card“
• The App Card allowed Twitter users to simply access the app through their Twitter feed
• They gained 19,500+ app installations that were from Twitter
