  1. Welcome1. Thank you for the opportunity for us to come and present to you and your Northwestern Technologies team.2. We want Northwesterns Media and its direction to become social, social with the public and those that matter most to Northwestern Technologies. To better know and be knownby their customer base. A. We will look into how you can achieve this and why we feel this should be the next tactic for your companyThere are millions of people online at any given minute during the day, how can you reach out to them in a cost effective way, a quicker way and a way that reaches them where they are. Online!Northwestern Technologies being a Web Design company this decesion should only come naturally to use and learn more about Social Media and how to use it. Being the your main Clientele are people and small businesses it is smart to have the concept of B2C first. Since most small businesses are only 1-5 employees it is best to reach for the individual than for just the corporation. We will also look at B2B as well but not with such a great role as we are going to concentrate on B2C. So let us begin.
  2. Where are we, this we will discuss later on in our seminar for you. First let us look at where we have come from in this media and wide world of internet world.E-mail was the first step online to become social with each other. In a way never before seen. It was a system that literally like leaving a note on someones desk. Where you would send a note to someone and when they logged in they would automatically see the note listed right there on their computer.First step taken in the direction of Social Media was conceived and started in 1979 by Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis. This let users post articles or posts (news) to newsgroups. This is the precursor to the RSS feed readers of Blogs and News sites use today.One feature today that allows Social Media to be social is the chat feature. The first to incorporate a chat program within their internet service was CompuServe. But with it’s pricing for the general public it took a beating allowing other services like Prodigy to be more affordable for the masses. AOL made the biggest strides in bringing people an accessible internet. IRC (Internet Relay Chat) was developed and is understood to be the father of the Instant Messaging we know and use today. People could share files and links all the while being able to keep in touch with others. This was developed in the 1988.Dating sites took what had already been developed and developed their own structure around the dating world. Where people could create profiles that included photos that gave them the opportunity to contact and meet others online.Even though the dating sites were limited in some ways, where some argue they were not the first social sites on the web. To me they are definitely social sites. Some would say the earliest site, one that is more of what we know today, was called SixDegrees and was launched in 1997. You would create a profile that you could then become friends with other users and keep a list of those friends you have obtained within the site. Similar to what we use today.LiveJournal shared information between people, in a way linking people and their ideas together in a unique and great way. It encouraged people to follow one another and interact with each other in an idea to connect unknowns with the same ideas and desires.
  3. Here we know a little bit of the past and what has made the Social Networks to be today but where do we go from here? Most importantly how do we use it once we know what is out there for use to use?So from here we will look at 1. What is out there for you to use 2. Why would you want to use it 3. How to use it
  4. 1. Have you Heard…of a little blue bird? Millions have heard and makes this bird speak millions and millions of times over. All within a 140 character count.2. Have you heard... That You, come in a tube? You may not fit into a toothpaste tube, but there is a tube that millions tend to place themselves on each and everyday. A tube that even more millions will watch, watch over, send to a friend or even post on one of the other listed sites. It’s here to share your life, your message and your products with the world in a fun visual way. The freedom of creativity is yours on this site.3. Have you Heard...of being within a fenced in area. This time with a bunch of other people that are of like mind and profession. This social medium allows people to keep in contact with people, places and make more contacts within a certain business. 4. Have you heard... of a book that has faces? Fun faces and fun places. News of the day, not just what is in the news, but news of ones day. Whether it was a good day, a bad day, who they hate, who passed away, who they like, what they ate and millions of other topics. These days it is the powerhouse social media site with its power in the market where you will find people, whole families posting, businesses, bands, entertainers and anyone wanting to be connected with others. If at this time you are not on it you are definitely missing what is being read, posted and seen online. 5. This is just a small dent in a car to the number of other options available online in the social media world. From Blogs to sites where you just upload your photos for everyone to view such as photobucket and Flickr. To rate the news sites seems to be gaining ground like Digg and Reddit. To sites that are losing ground and trying to recommit to the web that it is still here and being used like MySpace.6. There are also &apos;sites&apos; within sites that can be used effectively to reach even more people. One of those most recent ones is called Pinterrest, just an example but not one that Northwestern Tech would utilize, that has a cult like following. It is growing and gaining ground, even though it is just an application inside of one of the listed social media sites, facebook.

Let us know go over the answers to the last Have you Heard questions posed to you:Twitter has over 250 Million unique users signed up on its site. * has over 200 Million Tweets per day * People can follow people, businesses, bands entertainers or who ever is tweeting (as they call peoples posts online). * They want to stay connected * Can build a Twitterwall, where it will then contain all of your information, photos and news for Northwestern Technologies. * Can use a site called Hootsuit to better control your message on delivery times, statistics and suchLinked in has over 110 Million Users * Geared toward those in business and the professional world to be connected * This is the new way of Networking for this day and age * Your employees can be listed and show how well your company has done with employee relations and how you treat your employees. * This is a great way for a company gauge how well they are perceived in the marketYouTube has over 4 billion videos online. * 400 Million hits per day on YouTube * 60 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute * Google, who bought out YouTube in 2006, estimates that YouTube videos generated $5 Billion in revenue on an annualized run rate basis. * Money can be made utilizing YouTube and its video formatted website.Facebook has over 350 Million unique users * 700 Status updates per second * 1 in 13 people are logged on at any given time, on earth. * 71.2% of the US web users are on facebook * 48% are between the age of 18-34 years of age * 48% of young Americans on facebook say they find their news on facebook. * Can link your facebook page to your own businesses website and other relevant sites for Nothwestern Tech
  7. Millions of people online at any given point during the day.Social Media allows people to have conversations with other people and businesses alike. Through the Instant Chat format along with posting along side of someone else&apos;s posts. We can repost, retweet or send a link through any of these sites to someone else through the site itself or even throughIt’s immediate. I’ve seen posts go up and within a minute or two you have a response. It is just that quick.Better control of NT’s message and how often you want your message to be knownHave a product update, let it be knownPeople are behind their computers screen watching things, looking up things, on social media sites, uploading, downloading and all the things you can do online. Reach them!You can find anything online, which at times is unfortunate, but for the most part the internet is a worth while tool for everyoneYou can find anything online making it a literal Bazaar for people to buy. From E-bay to Amazon, to business sites that sell their products online to people selling things off their own sites. You can find the craziest things online.Businesses today use the internet to sell their service or goods, make their business known, share the news of the good things they are doing in the world and community and for so many other reasons.Today people will judge you if you have an online presence or not. If you do not you might be left behind because if they want you or your info they want it quickly, and in todays world immediately by looking online.
  8. = Amazingly one aspect of social media that gets left out in the daily talk are all of the jobs it has created in today’s online world. Seems as if it is a hot spot for the younger generation to cut their teeth in the IT world = By a single search I have been able to find the products I have needed and lots of times they are companies that I have never heard of. Some may have been out of someone’s garage or basement. = People who would never have met are now meeting, all from behind their computers. It is connecting people who spend to much time behind their computers with people from around the world, the news of the world and businesses from around the world.= Connection is key to enjoying the social Media presence online. We can follow friends, businesses that we like from around the world to keep and be updated with throughout the year.
  9. Benefits to Social Media for NW TechCompany awareness to the masses. As you could see by the past numbers of the millions of people on the top two sites online (facebook and twitter) are in reach. We just need to formulate a plan, a message and a timeline of what and how we are going to work together to achieve this connection with the massesCommunicative – Lets talk is not always the ‘oh what did I do now’ feeling we have when we here them. It means much more than that. You can talk or just communicate a single message to those that are important to your business. People do not have to respond to everything for your message to be read or heard online. Just as long as they know your product, service, message and keeping them updated is what is importantInteractive. You can have chats online. They can comment on a post of your newest updates or tweets. Can repost, retweet, news from your site for even more people to see your message. Can start the next viral video for so many to now see around the world.Immediate in the fact that once you hit post it is posted immediately. If they are tuned into NM Tech they will be able to see your news or message within a matter of minutes. Kinda cool. Where before you had to wait for your news to be printed and delivered or created and broadcast over the TV. Now it hits in boxes within minutes, hits peoples news sources within minutes and can be updated more often. You can also see immediate results coming in on purchases or hits to your website within minutes as well. You can even track your effectiveness within days not weeks or months as in the past.Cost Effective. In the sense that if you see one message not working you can now change it quickly with very little cost. In years past you would have to create a new TV Advertisement, have a design firm create a new ad campaign and the results of each took weeks if not months to be tracked. Now you can track for cheap the responses you get like hits to your site, the amount of product being bought rather quickly. You can control your message. You control yourself and your posts. This does not mean people will not regret a decision later on sometimes, but we as individuals can control and dictate what our message is in real time.Accountability allows us to be able to track responses as well. If there is negative feedback we can start to make immediate changes to our message product or strategy.Participation gives people a connection to us as a company or a product. A connection or participation unequaled by any form in the past. People will be a part of something if they feel welcomed and valued by that business
  10. * Better and immediate customer care. Because their reaction is immediate, which sometimes is not the best news, can be broadcast immediately and wide. We can see the pulse of those who consider themselves valued. We can take care of issues faster now, and need to take care of issues faster because word of “mouth” is now light speed. It’s not just the neighborhood gossip sharing the information whenever they run into you in the store. It is now put out there quickly. Take NetFlix for example. If it was not for Social Media they were able to retract and make changes to their proposed changes within days of the news of their changes being broadcast. The amount of traffic online about NetFlix dramatically increasedNeed to be seen as connected and hip. Not old and not willing to change with the timesWe can see immediate news of what people are thinking about NW Tech.We can now engage in customers needs and daily lives in a very non threatening way. Se are not bothering during dinner unless if they want us to. This means no more calls in the middle of dinner with a sales call, now if they are seeing our hearing your message it is because they are logged in on their own and wanting to be bothered by your news. People sign up for these sites because they want to, not because you have bothered them to. You control how much and how often your message is put out there for the world to know about you and your products.
  11. Social Media is now in it’s forever changing formats and sites. There is a need to follow what the trends are for the future and for your advertising. Social Media is here and here to stay we believe. Just what sites and in what format is the ever evolving door we will need to keep track of in the future. It will always be adding and subtracting sites due to their flow and connection with their clientele.Social Media is not going to bite, especially if used properly. We feel that we can help you use Social Media effectively and with little costs compared to the bucks typically spent in newspaper, magazines and tv spots.As we have shown you previously, the immediate impact is remarkable to your clientele. These types of sites help us to feel more connected to our client base and potential client base along with them feeling connected with us.The amount of people online at any given time is reason enough to do something online.
