2. Supporting Children with World Vision
President and owner of Tate Builders Inc. on Martha's Vineyard, Thomas E. Tate is proud
to volunteer his time as well as donate to several charitable organizations. One of the
nonprofits Thomas (Tom) Tate supports is World Vision. Begun 65 years ago, World
Vision continues to help children and families in over 100 countries struggling with the
aftermath of disasters, poverty, and injustice.
3. Supporting Children with World Vision
A Christian humanitarian organization, World Vision seeks to help communities stricken
with poverty to turn around and thrive. With children being the focus of the organization,
services offered include emergency relief, the promotion of justice, and increasing public
awareness of critical issues, among others. The goal is to root out the causes of poverty,
and not simply to treat its symptoms.
4. Supporting Children with World Vision
Volunteers can give in many ways, from monetary donations and volunteering their time,
to sponsoring a particular child, to becoming a speaker to educate and advocate on
behalf of those living in poverty worldwide. In 2015 alone, World Vision helped over 4
million children and 12 million refugees and disaster survivors.
