It took an entire year to renovate one six-building compound using recycled and aged materials to
return it to its 1937 appearance. The company re-created the doors and windows, hand-carving them
when necessary. New additions and dormers mesh seamlessly with original structures, and restoration
of wood finishes required the use of several special oils and stains.

Even more complex is a six-bedroom home overlooking Quitsa Pond in Chilmark. Two years in the
making, the building incorporates climate control for the owner’s art collection. It is distinguished by a
double-recurved roof whose design required the use of multi-variable calculus. Inside, countertops and
floors consist of Portuguese granite. On the outside, 140 double-insulated windows were hand
fabricated.
