Definition for Marketing mix
 Marketing Mix consists of the 4P’s
 I will explain to the learners the 4ps in order for them to gain knowledge in this
area in order to do the activity later on in the lesson
 Product
 * A product, service or idea is that which satisfies the needs and wants of the
customers.
 *A product is a tangible object or an intangible product that is mass produced
or manufactured on a large
 Place
 *Place represents the location where a product
 can be purchased
 *It is often referred to as the distribution channel.
 * It can include any physical store as well as virtual stores on the internet
Continuation
 Price
• The price is the amount a customer pays for a product.
• It is determined by the number of factors including market share, competition,
material costs, product identity and the customers perceived value of the
product.
• The business may increase or decrease the price of products if other stores have
the same product.
 Promotion
• Promotion activities are meant to communicate and persuade the target
market to buy the company's products.
• This is done by:
• -advertising
• -personal selling
• -sales promotion
• - word of mouth
Class activity
• Compile your own marketing assessment using the four P’s
explained above.
• Instructions are as follows
1. Draw your own product which is similar to any product you
usually know. For instance draw anything similar to coke or pepsi
and make it look better by considering the following factors;
The colour of the product, the size and the name of the product
The price of the product and cost of the product.
How you will promote that product. ( 15 marks )
2. Divide yourself into five equal groups, in your groups use the
following instructions to market your product to your classmates
3. For the last task you are required to do a presentation and
market your product using the four P’s ( 15 marks )
Reflection question
 is the product that you designed suitable for the
customer? Will customers be satisfied?
 Do you think customers are willing to pay for that
product? Is the amount that you allocated good
enough for customers?
 Is the place used for the selling the product
appropriate?
 Which way is the best for promoting your product?
Assessment used;
 Formal assessment will be used
 At the end of the lesson an assignment worth 20 marks
will be given to the learners
 Do a research at your community based on the most
sold brand or product and then conduct a research
based on the four marking mix P’s. use the notes given
to complete the assignment. Ensure that for each P
state three facts based on the product.
