2. The Decentralized Web is alternate network architecture for the web that relies on peer-to-peer
connections instead of centralized hosting infrastructure. Instead of connecting to a single server
identified by a URL to access content, clients join the network and request content using a CID.

When requesting content on the decentralized web, that data is identified by a CID (Content IDentifier)
rather than by URL. CIDs are cryptographically self-verifying hashes of the content, and every file has
exactly one CID. If the content of the files changes, so does the CID.

IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) is a decentralized network of data storage nodes that agree to identify
content with CIDs. Each node pins the content it wants to store, keeps a record of which other nodes have
pinned content, and gossips with other nodes about what it knows.

Once the requesting node identifies which node has the content, it forms a direct connection to download
it. That content may have many copies on many nodes, and, because of how CIDs work, a single piece of
content can also be safely broken into smaller pieces which can be stored by dierent nodes.
