1. Project Request : Automated ADCaP registration (AAR)
Project Sponsor: Chris Combs, Vice President, Student Affairs
Business Need: This project has been initiated to create an automated registration process to decrease
required UIW staff and student time while simplifying the ADCaP student registration process.
Business Requirements: The ability for students to register for ADCaP classes via the Internet with little
to no required UIW staff interaction. The specific functionality that the system should have includes the
following:
• Ability to cross reference student degree plans, financial account status, current UIW course
offerings, and class fill ratio.
• Maintain student records.
• Establish easy to use web interface available via extranet
• Establish mobile device web interface.
• Establish registration and/or class withdrawal notifications.
Business Value: We expect that advisors would have a more productive relationship with the students
that require direct attention for situations such as class overload requests, degree plan questions,
course specific questions, or graduation/transfer concerns.
Conservative estimates of tangible value to the company include the following:
• $30,050 in advisor time per mini-semester
• $250 in registration supplies per mini-semester
Non-tangible values to the student body and UIW advisor staff include the following:
• Student time savings and satisfaction during the registration process
• UIW advisors ability to provide expeditious services and a more personable relationship for
students that require attention
Special Issues or Constraints:
• Automated registration system should be an all-inclusive one stop shop to incorporate every aspect of
the registration process.
• Many of our current loyal students have been requesting this capability, and we need to provide this
service.
