The lesson plan is for a 2nd grade class about dinosaurs. It will introduce different types of dinosaurs through activities like making dinosaurs with shapes, solving puzzles, and creating robots. The teacher will show videos and discuss distinct body features of dinosaurs. The objective is for students to describe different dinosaurs accurately by the end of the lesson. Students will be evaluated based on writing and drawing their favorite dinosaur.

Analyze the Learner
I am going to be teaching my 2nd grade student the history of dinosaurs and introduce the
different types of dinosaurs that existed during this time period. There are 20 students in my
class, 11 boys and 9 girls. The students are 60% African American, 30% Caucasian and 10%
Hispanic. Two of the students have mild ADHD.
State Objectives
Students will be able to give distinct body descriptions of different types of dinosaurs.
We will discuss these features and why those certain features may have been important. They
will be able to do so by making different types of dinosaurs with geometric shapes, pictures and
by solving puzzles. By the end of the day there will be 90% accuracy.

Majority of the materials needed for this lesson will consist of posters and puzzles.
Utilize Media and Material
Preview the Material: The first step of the lesson plan will consist of me introducing
the idea that in the time of the dinosaurs the earth was like a zoo. There were many different
kinds of dinosaurs that varied in shape, size and the food that they ate.
Prepare the Material: In order to be prepared I will cut different geometric shapes onto
cardstock paper to prevent the shapes from bending. For the puzzle, I will cut dinosaur pictures
in to different shapes and color code the back so that the students know what pieces go together.

2. Prepare the Environment: I will introduce the idea of there being several different
types of dinosaurs by comparing dinosaurs to zoo animals.
Prepare the Learner: I will prepare the students by showing YouTube videos that talk
about different dinosaurs.
Provide a Learning Experience: The students will create a robot that has
characteristics of the dinosaur of their choice.
Require Learner Participation
The students will be encouraged to raise their hands and ask questions. They will be
solving puzzles, making robots, and creating dinosaurs with different shapes.
Evaluate and Revise
The students will be evaluated in their writing centers when they write about their
favorite dinosaur and draw illustrations.
