Personal Profile
I am a motivated and enthusiastic professional with analytical mindset, passionate about integration and
collaboration. With 21 years of experience in the refining and petrochemical industry, I have successfully handled
various engineering design and management positions in large EPC contractor, consulting, process licensing and
operating MNCs. Currently, I, as a subject matter expert, assess, identify and select appropriate technology and
equipment configuration in the area of heat transfer for refinery and chemical process plants. Selection of vendors,
troubleshoot approach and impact assessment on process and HSSE aspects are several integral parts of my
responsibilities, providing views and outlooks to clients through research reports, client talks and speeches in
conferences. Regional asset support, lifecycle plan and developing reliability centric maintenance strategies around
heat transfer equipment are by direct accountability in current role in Shell. In team leadership role I ensure my
technical team’s high engagement level, compliance to “goal zero” safety compliance, career and competence
development needs staying aligned with company’s business goals.
Professional Experiences1
Jan, 2013 – Till Date : As Team Lead and Senior Heat Transfer Engineer – Shell India Technology Centre
Bangalore, managing fired and unfired heat transfer team and simultaneously working
in the area of fired heat transfer as individual contributor for projects and asset support
in the East (mid-East to Japan). Alignment with overall Shell business goals, discipline
quality policies and standards, coordination between three major global engineering
hubs and assets are major benchmarks of this role.
Apr. 03 – Dec.12 : As Team Lead and Senior Heat Transfer Engineer in UOP, designed and delivered
right heat transfer solutions to UOP optimizing competing requirements such as,
minimum cost, reliable operation, desired start-up, ramp up and turndown, runlength,
process safety, reliability etc. For better understanding of process technologies moved
over to process for hands-on experience and later led process delivery team.
Subsequently I moved back to heat transfer to lead the team. In parallel worked as
individual contributor in critical technology deployment applications.
Sept.97 – Mar 03 : As Senior Engineer in Heat and Mass Transfer division in Engineers India Ltd.
New Delhi, learned critical design aspects of fired heaters, boilers, incinerators etc. in
the process of thermal and detail design for refinery complexes. Design basis
finalization, licensor’s requirement consolidation, coordination with multiple technical
disciplines, vendor bid analysis, burner model and technology selection, burner testing
at vendor shop, commissioning and site troubleshoot were integral part in this role. I
worked as process commissioning engineer in a grassroot refinery complex in India as
well as in another big refinery unit at KNPC, Kuwait.
Jan, 97 – Sept., 97 : As Sr. Process Engineer, in Larsen and Toubro. Ltd., India in process, was
responsible for process design and commissioning of Cement plants. Worked as
commissioning engineer.
Mar.,95 – Jan., 97 : As Sr. Engineer in BHPV Ltd. (now a BHEL unit), Visakhapatnam, India, I was
responsible for thermal design of industrial boilers, fired heaters, deaerator systems.
