2. INTRODUCTION
The navigation system uses TTS ( TEXT-TO-Speech) for blindness in order to provide a
navigation service through voice. Suggested system ,as an independent program, is fairly
cheap and it is possible to install into smartphone help by blind people.
This allows blind to easy access the program. An increasing number of studies have used
technology to help blind people to integrate more fully into a global world.
Nowadays the advancement made in computer technology opened platforms for visually
impaired people across the world. It has been observed that nearly about 60% of the total
blind population across the world is present in INDIA.
This architecture will also reduce cognitive load taken by the blind to remember and type
characters using the keyboard. it also helps handicapped and illiterate people.
In this paper, we describe the voice mail architecture used by blind people to access E-mail
and multimedia functions of the operating system easily and efficiently.
3. IDENTIFIED PROBLEM
In the previous system with the help of screen readers it was difficult for blind people
to access E-mail system easily because it has noisy audio interface. These available
systems require use of keyboard which is very difficult for blind people to recognize and
remember characters of keyboard. So we implement voice based E-mail system for blind
person and it also helps handicapped and illiterate people.
4. LITERATURE REVIEW
Author Abstract
Tirthankar Dasgupta The contribution made by this research has enabled the
blind people to send and receive voice based e-mail
messages in their native language with the help of a
computer or a mobile device. Our proposed system GUI
has been evaluated against the GUI of a traditional mail
server. We found that our proposed architecture
performs much better than that of the existing GUIs
Trishna Rotke Due to its simplicity and accessibility internet is widely
used in almost al he communication application .In the
recent times, number of application based on internet
have been developed to make the communication as
amore reliable and efficient in nature .Out of this
numerous application ,E-mail is the most widely used
and reliable way to communicate with each other.
5. Author Abstract
R. lglesias This paper describes a new Haptic Audio Virtual Environment to allow
visually impaired people to have access to the three dimensional
graphic computer world through the sense of touch (using a new dual-
finger haptic interface ) and augmented by audio output and voice
commands. Such system has been developed within the European
project “GRAB”.
Sherly Noel Communication development is creating a revolution in the current
digital era. This application recognizes user voice and performs
comparisons with pre-sample voice command. Common day-to-day
spoken words are used as command language. It focuses on reducing
the load incurred in human memory.
6. MOTIVATION
The main motive behind this project is that the user need not to
remember the functions on keyboard since all operations will be
performed based on voice.
The contribution made by this research has enabled to send and
receive voice based e-mail messages in their native language with
the help of a computer.
7. OBJECTIVES AND PLANNED
OUTCOMES
The system will not let the user make use of the keyboard instead will work on speech
recognition. In today’s age much of the communication takes place through internet.
The system will recognize the speech and convert that into text hence user friendly for them.
It will be connected to internet via LAN or Wi-Fi hotspot or stand alone internet connection
so that the respective email can be send to the receiver.
This application recognize user voice and performs comparisons with pre-sample voice stored
in the database and executes the voice command.
The proposed work aims to develop a mechanism which converts speech to text (TTS) for
reading emails.
8. EXISTING SYSTEM
Simple e-mail systems are available in which only voice recognition & text-
to-speech systems are accessible.
There are various existing search engine which take request in form of text
from user and retrieve the relevant documents from server and responds by
displaying it in the form of text which is not possible for visually challenged
people.
9. PROPOSED SYSTEM
The Proposed system will make the email system very easily accessible to visually
challenged people and also help society.
Email Composer:
o The email composer comprises of five modules. They are processing user voice input,
comparing voice with pre-recorded sample, text writing ,verifying the output text and
send email. The input is given by the user through his/her voice.
Voice Processing:
o The application will use installed libraries for voice recognition and voice processing.
o The voice is processed by recognizing its distance, pace, continuity and language.
Comparing voice with pre-recorded sample:
o The interface authenticates voice command by comparing it with sample voice stored in
the database. The speech synthesis interface has properties like pending, speaking,
resume, cancel, etc.
12. ALGORITHMS
In Voice based E-mail system mainly three types of technologies are used namely:
STT (Speech to text): here whatever we speak is converted to text. Their will a small icon of mic on
who's clicking the user had to speak and his/her speech the naked people will see and read also.
TTS (text-to-speech): this, method is full opposite of STT. In this method, which converts the text
format of the emails to synthesized speech.
IVR (Interactive voice response): IVR is an advanced technology describes the interaction between the
user and the system in the way of responding by using keyboard for the respective voice message. IVR
allows user to interact with an email host system via a system keyboard, after that users can easily
service their own enquiries by listing to the IVR dialogue. IVR systems generally respond with pre -
recorded audio voice to further assist users on how to proceed.
13. LIBRARIES USED:
1.gTTS (Google Text-to-Speech):Is Google Translate text-to-
speech API.
The tts.save function allows us to save the converted speech in
a format that allows us to play sound using python’s OS module
to directly run the file from the program.
14. 2.Speech Recognition :
Speech recognition is the process of converting
spoken word to text.
Python supports many speech recognition
engines and API’s &we are using Google Speech
Engine. The Speech Recognition module
depends on pyaudio module.
3.For Mail :
smtplib : This library is used for
sending mail
15. Merits And Demerits
Merits :
o Our proposed framework can also be easily applied in the problem of
Text/instance retrieval.
o This system makes the disabled people feel like a normal user.
o They can hear the recently received mails to the inbox, as well as the IVR
(Interactive Voice Response), technology proves very effective for them in the
terms of guidance.
Demerits :
o The system may take some time for processing the voice.
o Cannot detect features from low quality voice.
16. FUTURE SCOPES
There is wide future scope of this system many enhancements can be done in the system
such as including different languages, including functionality of accessing the deleted mails
and spam mails.
Further more sign language system can also be integrated with the system to make the
system more scalable and robust.
We can also implement this system on android applications.
17. CONCLUSION
This e-mail system can be used by any user of any age group with ease of
access.
This system overcomes many drawbacks that were faced by visually
challenged people such as sending and receiving emails. Success of this
project can make an impact on developers motivating them to make
something useful that can help visually challenged people.
