The document describes the design choices made for several graphic design projects:
- A music flyer for artist Jessi featuring a black, blue, and pink color scheme to match her hip-hop style and label's logo.
- A poster for an art exhibit featuring triangular shapes and the title "Onion Skin" in red and black colors to represent the exhibit.
- A double page spread for a K-pop band's new album incorporating the pink and blue colors and camouflage pattern from the album artwork.
- A broadsheet newspaper page about David Bowie's death inspired by another publication, with Bowie's name and age in red in the headline and his photo and final album cover on the
3. Front Back The artist I chose to make the
music flyer for is called Jessi,
she is a K-Hip-Hop artist
under the label Unpretty
Rapstar, this is why the back
says it. I wanted the flyer to
have a hip-hop theme to go
with the artist, so I chose for
the colour scheme to be black
with blue and pink. I also
chose the font styles because
they are the ones used by the
label within their logo, which
is the diamond within the
words ‘Unpretty Rapstar’.
5. The artist I chose to make the
poster on is Olivier Ratsi, he is a
photographer that is known for
creating exhibits using lights to
create triangular shapes, that is
why I chose to have the triangle
on the corner. The exhibit I chose
to use for the poster is ‘Onion
Skin’ that is why it says it in the
corner. This exhibit is also mainly
coloured red and black this is why
I chose this colour scheme. The
number in the bottom right corner
is the room number it would be in
the museum, I did this because
‘Top Museum’ uses this numerical
system for their exhibit rooms.
7. I chose to create the double page spread on
a K-pop band called NCT 127 and their latest
album. I chose many of the design elements
were based off of the theme of the song, for
instance the colour scheme was chosen
because the album had pink and blue, they
also used the camouflage design within the
album. The circle is the logo for the band
that I recreated, however I changed it slightly
so that it was a cherry bomb. The graphic at
the bottom of the left page is also used
heavily for the teaser photos that the band
released for the album, I decided to use
these because it fit with the theme and
added an interesting element to the page. I
used a pull quote underneath the photo, I
didn’t use a pull quote from the text
however, but chose to take one of the lines
from the song. On the second page I decided
to put the images of the members of the
band, this is because I wanted the second
page to be different from the first one. For
some of the photos I changed the
background so that they would match with
the colour scheme of the spread.
9. For the broadsheet I decided to take inspiration
from the broadsheet ‘The Daily Telegraph’ for their
special on Nelson Mandela’s death. I wanted the
broadsheet to be for a celebrities death so I chose
Bowie. I wanted it to be quite simple so I chose to
have half of the page have Bowies face. On the left
side I put the headline for the article that I chose
that the broadsheet would be designed around.
For the headline I highlighted his name and the
age he died by making them bigger than the rest
of the text, also I changed their colour so that they
would be red. At the bottom of the left side I also
included the date of his death and where he died,
this was in red to highlight the text further. I also
included the date of the issue at the top of the
broadsheet, so that the reader would know when
it is for. At the very bottom of the left side there is
an image of Bowies final album cover, I added this
because it adds to the page, I did not write
anything about this however because I thought it
added a design element to the page.
