Electronic waste, or e-waste, is a
term for electronic products that
have become unwanted, non-
working or obsolete, and have
essentially reached the end of
their useful life. Because
technology advances at such a
high rate, many electronic
devices become “trash” after a
few short years of use.
Computers and most electronics
contain toxic materials such as
lead, zinc, nickel, flame retardants,
barium, and chromium.
When electronic waste is thrown away
in landfills their toxic materials seep
into groundwater, affecting both land
and sea animals
When e-waste is warmed up,
toxic chemicals are released into
the air damaging the
atmosphere

STATISTICS
“The world’s e-waste problem continues
to grow. Improved measurement of e-
waste is essential to set and monitor
targets, and identify policies,”
commented Jakob Rhyner, Vice-Rector
of the United Nations University.
“Existing global and regional
estimates based on production and
trade statistics do not adequately
cover the health and environmental
risks of unsafe treatment and disposal
through incineration or landfilling.”
SOLUTION

Agency (EPA) suggests you
first consider upgrading
the hardware or software.

memory and performance
enhancing features added
to them.
