water)
ο WBC count- 500/microlitre(0-8/microlitre)
ο Protein β slight increase(15-45mg/dl)
ο Glucose β normal(45-75mg)
8. Brain imaging techniques
ο MRI,PET,EEG
ο Helps in early detection of HSV(Swelling of the brain)

can be tested for virus
ο EEG- abnormal patterns
ο Blood test will detect viral RNA

ο Skull fracture
ο Prior brain trauma
ο surgery

ο Antimicrobial therapy(6-8weeks)
ο Penicillin
ο Chloramphenicol
ο Metronidazole
ο Third generation cephalosporin
ο Draining of abscess or removal of abscess
ο Abscess larger than 2.5cm are excised and aspirated
ο Corticosteroids
