BACKGROUND
A Cup of Jo was found in January
2007. It is a lifestyle blog that was
started as a weekend hobby by
the blogger and it eventually grew
bigger. A Cup of Jo covers
fashion, beauty, design, food,
travel, relationships, motherhood
and lifestyle. Cup of Jo now has a
team of writers and is a known
industry wide for having a smart
and deeply engaged readership. T
BACKGROUND
SAY YES is a lifestyle blog that
celebrates family life with practical tips
for home, travel, and personal style. The
blogger works with a team of brilliant
women to come up with the best quality
content to share with you in areas of
family, food, style, travel, crafts, and
home.
BLOG BRANDING
A CUP OF JO SAY YES
- The name of the blog is derived from the
blogger, Joanna Goddard.
- Since Joanna is mostly sharing her
thoughts and insights of a story, she went
on branding her blog as A Cup of Jo.
- In my opinion, I think it is a great branding
because not only is she making her
content famous, she is letting her readers
recognise and remember her name
- SAY YES is a brand name that is not
derived from people’s names.
- The branding in a way sends out message
to the readers.
- It in a way signifies readers to say yes to
the things they read on that blog.
- In my opinion, I think this is also a smart
way of attracting readers to buy what is
promoted in the blog.
LATEST CONTENT
- In the latest post, the blogger talks about
Palm Springs
- She also has a lot of web extra in her latest
post related to the festive season
- For example, 2019 gift guide, Home alone
for the holidays and five amazing holiday
sales
- From this we could see that the blogger
shares content that is seasonal
- She also has a smart way of keeping her
readers in her blog by adding web extra to
her other posts
- The latest post is about holiday hair updo
- The blogger shows step by step tutorial
with short description to get that hair
updo
- Without the blogger adding the word
“holiday” and without those red berry-like
clips on the hair, it hardly seems like a
festive post
- This blogger does not add any web extra
to her latest post
- Her latest post does not really engage
with her readers
LAYOUT
- The layout is portrait
- The blogger puts small images with
headlines and a short lead
- The scrolling does not end until we reach
the oldest content
- Which is a little messy because readers
should have to option to go further only if

- The blogger describes the post a little which
helps readers decide if it is interesting for

- The layout is switched between picture and

- After four posts, there is an option for readers

- When we scroll down, the tabs disappear and
readers have to go all the way up to go to a
different tab
- In such cases, most readers take the easy
step of just closing the tab instead of scrolling
all the way up to see more
- The tab drops as the readers scroll down
- This makes it easier for readers to go to other
categories
- They do not have to scroll all the way up
- In most cases, this helps sustain readers on
page because they get to discover more posts
without hassle
CONTENT
A CUP OF JO
- The content is lengthy with only two pictures
- The recipe is placed at the bottom
- Readers might either scroll straight to read
the recipe or leave page because of not
enough attraction
SAY YES
- The blogger writes short sentences next to
the pictures
- It is pleasing to the eye because there is not
much scrolling and it is scannable
- The recipe is also placed at the bottom but it
is easier to read as the post is shorter
