2. CAMERAWORK
• The start of the video has some longer establishing shots. Panning is
used to show the surroundings.
• Wide angle shot, mid-shots and close-up shots are all used in this video.
• The video often goes back to the wide angle shot of the man.
• The man is sometimes shown in the same position from different angles.
• Often the camera will stay still whilst the subject moves.
• The camera sometimes pulls focus on some of the shots.
4. SOUND
• The sound in this video is shown to be diegetic, as the person is singing
on screen. However, the sound is, in fact, non-diegetic as all of the sound
is coming from off screen. Even the singing, as the man is lip-syncing.
• There is also no sound from anything shown on screen, the water, the fire
etc.
6. EDITING
• The editing in this video is quite slow paced, it fits the song.
• It starts with some slow long shots but the changes get faster as the video
progresses.
• The scene changes are generally done in time with the music e.g. a key
change = scene change.
• One particularly good piece of editing in this video is where they reverse
the shot of the woman diving into the pool.
8. MISE EN SCENE
• For the entirety of this video the man is wearing a tailored black suit, white shirt and
skinny black tie.
• The man sits next to the pool and a table is next to him at all times with a bottle and
glass on it.
• This video’s lighting is strange because it is both natural, and artificial through the
use of fire and reflections off of the pool.
• The setting for the video is an outdoor pool. I feel it really fits the style of the music.
9. MISE EN SCENE EXAMPLES
The props and setting for this video are relatively simple but fit the style of the music.
