1. Film Analysis
To further my understanding of camera angles
used in films, I analysed a scene from the film
Jaws; directed by Stephen Speilberg

3. The camera
follows the boy,
whilst keeping
the setting within
the frame. The
deep focus shot
means that we
can still see
everything that is
occurring in the
background.

5. The peace of the beach is
disturbed when a dog
jumps into the sea. The
audience briefly jump, as
they’re expecting the shark
to attack, due to the
tension that was built up in
the scene. The audience
have pretty much the same
reaction as the Sherriff, so
when we see him relax, the
audience relax.

12. The shot then changes
to an underwater shot,
from the POV of the
shark. The audience
know this, due to the
non-diagetic soundtrack,
that has become iconic
because of the film.
