EVALUATION QUESTION 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction,
research and planning and evaluation stages?
RESEARCH AND PLANNING
• When conducting my research and planning I used a wide range of media
technologies such as;
 Blogger – This was my main technology that I used in my research and planning as I was able to put
all my research in there in an ordered way that I could refer to in any later planning work. The same
applied for my planning where I could refer back to my work when I was doing my construction my
products.
 YouTube – This was used a lot when I was doing my research as I could look at many existing
products to evaluate the appropriateness of certain conventions or codes to use in my own work.
 Photoshop – I used Photoshop in the planning stages of my CD digipack and magazine advert to try
out new skills and techniques that I had not previously attempted before. I was an amateur at using
Adobe Photoshop and therefore needed practise to in my research and planning stage I tried to use
this as much as I could.
CONSTRUCTION
• During my construction of my products I used the following media
technologies;
 Canon 1100D – For my products, music video, music magazine advertisement and CD digipack, I
had a lot of filming and photography to do. I did this with the Canon 1100D camera. This is an SLR
camera with very good quality allowing me to take decent videos and photographs.
 Adobe Premier Pro – To edit my footage for my music video, I used a very good editing software
called Premier Pro which is part of the Adobe CS6 range. This enabled me to take all my raw
footage and cut out the parts I wanted and place them in the correct sequence. It also allowed me to
speed up parts or slow them down as well as add effects to scenes. This was a very useful tool.
 Adobe Photoshop – Photoshop is again a part of the Adobe CS6 package and was a key tool in the
construction of my music ad and CD digipack. Photoshop allowed me to take any photographs and
edit them to my needs. For example I could change the colour balance, remove backgrounds and
add texts to them. This was vital for my construction.
EVALUATION
• When doing my 4 evaluation questions I used the following media
technologies;
 Prezi – Prezi is a presentation tool that allows the viewer to drag the canvas to move to where they
want to go. It is something that allows the presentation to be more interactive. I used this to answer
the first evaluation question.
 Emaze – This was a similar tool to Prezi, with the fundamental ideas behind it the same. It allows
the viewer to be more interactive with the presentation. I used this to answer question number 2.
 Slides – This was a tool that was more similar to PowerPoint, where the presentation is more
straightforward with less transitions and is not as interactive. This was however, an easy tool to use
which was useful when it came to writing a long winded answer for question 3.
 PowerPoint – I used PowerPoint for this question which was a program that I had used many times
before. Although not the most interesting to look at, it was easy to use which again was very useful
in this final question.
