2. Using Media Technologies in the
Construction of my Media Products
From my research I decided that I would not use my
iPhone to film my music video. This was because the
quality didn’t come out great due to the use of spot
lights. So to get a crisp professional finish to my video
quality I used my Canon EOS 750D. This also meant
that I wasn’t limited to cinematography effects, using this
camera helped me to achieve more effective shots
because I had more options. For example I used in and
out of focus shots a lot as it went really well with the
Jazz genre. An example of this is shown in the video on
the right.
Also from my research I decided that the basic
iMovie would give me enough functions to edit my
music video to the best quality. So I decided to use
iMovie 9 which enabled me to use more advanced
functions. For example I was able to use stabilisation
and the precision editor effectively in my music
video. Additionally I was able to adapt the exposure
and increase and decrease the saturation of my
video which I wouldn’t have been able to do if I only
used the basic iMovie.

In addition to using iMovie to edit
my videos I also used both
Keynote and Final Cut Pro.
I used keynote to create titles with
more advanced effects than you
can get on iMovie and also better
suited fonts for my genre. I used a
green screen to apply them to my
music video. Below are two clips of
the text I wanted to use to in my
music video.
I used final cut pro to edit some of the scenes
where the artist is performing, this gave a stronger
contrast between the performance and the bright
red curtains behind. I also used it to develop the
images I used for my digipak and magazine advert.

When constructing my music video I
frequently sought the advice of my
peers on what they thought worked
best especially when it came to the
editing. In order to do this is I used a
range of media technologies, for
example I used the class media group
chat, I also uploaded the clips to my
blog and media twitter account so my
peers didn’t have to be in the room
with me for me to get advice from
them.

5. Using Media Technologies in the Evaluation of
My Media Products
In all my evaluation answers I used a variety of media technologies to support
my answers to the questions.
In my answer to the first evaluation question I used both Keynote and
Microsoft Powerpoint. Within the presentation itself I provided screen shots
from my music video, digipak and magazine advert to, this provided evidence
to my answers. Another way I backed up my points was by showing specific
parts of my products that supported my points directly.

For my response to the second evaluation question I
created a Prezi presentation. Within this presentation,
similarly to question one I included plenty of
screenshots many of which came from my Blogger
page. I also embedded relevant Youtube videos. The
combination of these media technologies I felt helped
me answer the question to the best of my ability.

7. Using Media Technologies in the Evaluation of
My Media Products
When answering question 3 for my evaluation I decided to
construct it as a vlog. Therefore, I used iMovie to edit using
many different effects and processes. For example I used
picture in picture, cutaways, freeze frames and changed the
volume of the videos as some of the videos I used as examples
were much quieter than my own footage. Below is a screenshot
of me editing the response to my third evaluation question.

8. Using Media Technologies in the Evaluation of
My Media Products
To answer my evaluation questions fully I had to collect and
retrieve all of my recent and past audience feedback. This was
easy for me to do as they were either on my Blog, Youtube
Channel or my Snapchat account. Having these to hand helped
me show direct proof of my points it also made it easier to
incorporate into my third question which was specifically about
audience feedback.
Overall the media technologies I collected audience
feedback on were:
• Snapchat
• Twitter
• Whatsapp
• Blogger
• In focus groups - in vlog format
• Survey Monkey.
