This document outlines an instructional plan for teaching 4th grade students about holiday traditions. There are 20 students in the class, ranging in gender, ethnicity, and religion. Students will work in pairs to research and create a PowerPoint presentation on a randomly assigned holiday. Each student will also write an individual research paper. Presentations will be given to the class and each student will share about their own family's holiday traditions. The teacher will provide explicit instructions, assign groups and holidays, and make materials available for research and presentations. Students will be assessed through their individual paper, personal presentation, and team presentation. Feedback will be gathered to improve future instruction.
