are 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish, and 2 African Americans.

class.The genderratioisalmost50:50 inthisclassroom.The majorityof the studentsare white,butthey
are still aculturallydiversegroupof children.

 Typingand keyboarding
 Usingoffice tools,specificallyMSWordand MS PowerPoint

Learning Styles- Studentsenjoyworkinginpairsor ingroups.The majorityof the studentsenjoy
presentingorallyandworkingonprojects.Those studentswhoare notas comfortable,feel more
comfortable whenworkingingroups.TheypreferworkingoniPadsandthe computersinthe library.
State Objectives:
1. Studentswill workingroupsof twoto complete project.
2. Studentswill researchthe holidayassignedtotheirgroup.
3. The pair of studentswill researchthe holidaytogether,thenmake apowerpointasa team.
4. Each studentwill write theirownindividualresearchpaperontheirassignedholiday.
5. Afterresearching,the twostudentswill create apowerpoint.
6. The pair of studentswill presenttheirholidayprojecttothe restof the class.
7. Afterpresentationday,there willbe aday where eachstudentwill pickaholidaythattheyand
theirfamilycelebrateandexplaintheirtraditionstothe class.
SelectMethods,Mediaand Materials:
Teacherdevelopsinstructional methodsandevaluationguidelines.The teacherwill giveexplicit
instructionsandprovide anexampletothe students.He/She will make arubricon MS Excel andprovide
each studentwithacopy.The teacherwill assignaholidaytoeachgroup,as well asassigningpairsfor
groupsto complete the projects.Eachpairwill needathumbdrive tobringto class on presentationday
to showon the SmartBoard.There isa computerlabinthe school library,where the studentwillreceive
computertime eachday to workon the project.However,theyall have computeraccessat home and
will be expectedtoworkintheirindividual groupsawayfromschool.
Utilize Mediaand Materials:
Previewthe Materials- The teacherwill collectall thumbdrivesthe daybefore presentationstopreview
themall and be sure theirmaterialsandMS PowerPointsare workingcorrectly,sothat there are no
problemswhentheypresentbefore the class.
Preparethe Materials- Teacherwill prepare handoutsof rubricsandinstructionsbefore students are
assignedprojects.The teachermakessure classroomcomputerandSmartBoardare workingcorrectly
on the morningof presentationday.
Preparethe Environment- The classroomwill be setupwithdesksinpairstwoworkonprojectsad
researchinformationoniPads.The morningof presentations,deskswill be situatedinaformat
appropriate forpresentations.
Preparethe Learners- Afterthe initial instructionsregardingthe HolidayTraditionsproject,eachclass
period,studentswill be remindedof theirobjectives,aswell asgiventhe opportunitytoaskquestions.
Theywill have the opportunitytoturninthe writtenresearchpaperroughdraftwheneverthe feel
comfortable andthe teacherwill helpgivethemtipstohelptheirfinal draft.
Providethe Leaning Experience- Duringthe introductionof the assignment,the teacherpresents
materialsusinghandoutsandshowingthe same informationonthe SmartBoard.The SmartBoard is
centerof the classroomandin perfectview formeverystudent’sseat.The iPadStationislocatedalong
one of the side wallsof the classroom.The teacher’sdesk,where studentswill use theirthumbdrives,is
close to the SmartBoard.
Require Learner Participation:
Large-Group Activities- Studentswill discusstheirownholidaytraditionsandthe otherstudentswill be
able to askquestionsaloudinregardstothe individual students’traditions.
