Executive branch
1. INTRO TO THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH Executive Branch- Responsible for executing or carrying out laws Parts of the President’s job- Chief Executive (Executive Branch) Legislative Leader (Legislative Branch) Judicial Powers (Judicial Branch) Commander In Chief (Military) Chief Diplomat (Foreign Policy) Framers didn’t want a leader with unlimited power because- They didn’t want someone to have a tyrannical reign like a King. Limit on the President’s term of office-- A President may only serve two terms to limit the political power and control one president might have.
2. Intro to the Executive Branch The 22 nd Amendment- Is the amendment that limits the President to 2 terms in office. Separation of Powers- Constitutional placement of responsibility through the three branches of federal government Checks and balances- Limit the President in that the Legislative Branch makes laws and will do so even if the President does not want it. The Congress can also impeach and remove a President from office. The Judicial Branch can deem a President’s actions as unconstitutional. Presidential Qualifications- Must be 35 yrs old; Natural Born U.S Citizen; have lived in the U.S for the past 14 yrs. Chief Executive- Head of the Executive Branch; carry out the law
3. Intro to the Executive Branch Executive Orders- Rules and regulations passed down by the President that other government officials must follow. Executive Orders- May not violate the Constitution or laws passed by Congress. Chief Executive- Appoints the majority of Executive officials however they must be approved by Congress. Chief Diplomat- Foreign Policy leader, guides are relationships with other countries. Foreign Policy- Supports or opposes the actions of other nations, it relates to the President by setting treaties, making executive agreements and appointing ambassadors to help create the policy

INTRO TO THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH Foreign Policy is limited for the President by the Congress, the Senate can reject treaties Ambassadors are official U.S representatives to other foreign governments Executive Agreements a decision made by the President regarding foreign policy that does not need to be approved by the Senate Legislative Leader the President has a huge influence on Congress and how laws are made State of the Union Address is an annual Presidential speech directed to Congress covering goals and agendas
5. INTRO TO THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH Domestic Policy is the President’s plans for dealing with national issues The President solicits members of Congress to write bills regarding foreign/domestic policy, the President will also address Congressional Committees, Interest Groups and the American Public regarding issues of importance Judicial Powers the President nominates new Supreme Court Justices and can limit the Judicial Branch by pardoning convicted criminals Political Leader the President is seen as the leader of the political party they belong to. They are the highest elected official and have the prestige and power to support candidates and political agendas effectively
