Calmness In Children To Become High
Performers – Hinduism Approach

Controlling over-excitement in children and instilling calmness in them have
always been viewed as challenging issues by parents, teachers, and elders. But,
when this matter is handled with the approach taught by Hindu dharma, things
then become simplified. Sanatana dharma includes many noble precepts related
to eliminating negative traits in children for ensuring that they go on to become
high performers.
• In most Hindu households, some space/room is designated exclusively for
worship and prayers. Children have to be educated about the importance of
spending at least a small duration every day in the worship room and
contemplating upon the divine.
Parents and elders, by themselves praying daily in this shrine, are advised to set
an example for the little ones. When this becomes a habit for kids, aggression and
over-excitement automatically get curtailed and their minds become calmer. This,
in turn, helps the child to remain focused on their studies and career; in due
course, they will become high performers.
• This can be treated as a continuation of the previous point. Frequent visits to
temples are inseparable elements of the majority of Hindu homes. Children
should be encouraged to accompany their elders to these holy places. It needs to
be noted that the significance of visiting temples should be affectionately
explained to kids; things must not be forced upon them.
With every visit to a temple, a child is touched by the positive, spiritual
vibrations, which slowly become integral elements of their nature. Once this
happens, the over-exuberance is controlled and children will be enabled to
develop a tranquil mindset.
• As per Hindu dharma, it will be ideal to introduce children to some form of
sadhana. That can be performed for around twenty minutes a day. Here, kids
mustn’t be made to undertake disciplines that are too strenuous for their delicate
bodies.
Imparting knowledge about the basics of sadhana enhances their concentration
levels; a sense of dedication toward their goals is developed. The mind does not
run after trivial things. After that, it won’t take too long for them to be recognized
as achievers.
• These are the times when kids are distracted by too many things. Beyond a
limit, things such as the Internet and smartphones do not help a child’s cause.
Additionally, due to various academic targets and pressures, modern-day children
are subjected to a lot of stress. Here again, Santana Dharma has the perfect
solution for the problem.
The dharmik precepts tell parents and teachers to motivate the younger folks to
take up simple breathing meditation. The child only has to close their eyes and
become mindful of the flow of their breath. If this is done just for 5-10 minutes,
stress levels get alleviated to a great extent. With regular practice, a child shall be
able to consistently maintain a relaxed state of mind.
• The Hindu system is against inflicting physical pain on children during the
teaching process. Hinduism emphasizes the fact that kids should be educated in
an environment that is free from fear. Aspects like corporal punishment should
not be considered even when it’s the question of correcting a child’s behavior.
And, when children acquire knowledge amid such an amicable atmosphere, the
calmness of their minds becomes a logical outcome. Kids are then not hindered
in pursuing their objectives and achieving them.
