The document is a production diary detailing a three day photography session. On the first day, the photographer gathered poems and arranged them on a wall, taking multiple shots from different angles. They then set up a scrapbook scene with supplies and added notes to make it seem more realistic. The second day involved photographing a chosen photo on a wall with the camera it was taken with displayed below. Shots of an instrument against a wooden background were also taken after adding crumpled paper. On the third and final day, fairy lights were used to photograph a knitted blanket draped on a bed. Each day involved reviewing photos and selecting the best shots.
1. Production Diary
March 16
I started by gathering all the poems, some being famous poems or poems that I personally like and
others being personally written poems from the past couple of years. I stuck them on the wall with
blue tac.
I changed the order around a few times until I was happy with the way it looked, I also referred to
my sketch when putting them up.
I then took a few different shots from various angles. My original intention was to take them straight
on, but I thought it was worth testing taking some from the side to see if that would add anything or
perhaps make the lighting, I want to add more believable.
2. Moving on to the next shot I laid out the scrapbook, placing scissors, scrapbook paper and some
stickers around it so it looks as though it’s in the process of being made.
After doing this I felt something was missing once again so I
added an open notebook with some notes in it to make it
seem as though there was a specific plan for the scrapbook.
There were dogs around when I was setting this up which did
end up being disruptive since they kept trying to steal the
stickers but eventually, they were taken outside so that was
no longer an issue.
After this I took some shots from
above and some from a first-person perspective since I felt that would be
interesting to experiment with.
At the end of this I transferred all the photos to my laptop and reviewed
them, I decided which ones I felt were best and put them in a separate
folder to go back to once I get to the editing process.

I started this photography session with sticking my chosen photo onto the wall and checking that it
was straight, this by itself seemed too plain though so I decided to get the camera it was taken with
and put it on a small table underneath. It’s a small old camera which I think adds since it shows that
you can use your talents even with limited equipment.
I only took shots from right in front
since the wall I was using was small so
it wouldn’t look good to take this at any
other angle.
3. I cleared up the equipment and moved onto taking my instrument shot. I got my chosen instrument
which is a ukulele and set it up against the wooden background.
This by itself looked very plain so I added up the crumpled paper I had used for my poetry shot on
the previous day and got a piece of paper with lyrics on it and put that next to the crumpled paper. I
think this added a lot of personality to the shot and showed the trial and error of it which I also tried
to show with my previous poetry shots.
At the end of the shoot, I did the same as yesterday and transferred all the images to my laptop and
chose the ones I liked the best, putting them in the same folder as the other images I plan to edit.
March 18
This day was the easiest of them all since I only had one more photo to take. I got the knitted
blanket that was made for me by a friend and draped it across the end of the bed to show that it
goes to good use, giving the impression that knitting is a useful talent to have.
For lighting I used fairy lights since I felt the colour of the lights went well with the colours of the
blanket.
Although I had planned on only taking diagonal shots, I decided to try out a couple of different
angles since I wasn’t sure what exactly would look the best.
After this I went through the photos I took and decided which ones I felt were the best as I had done
on the previous days.
Looking back through all my photos I think I did well with what I had and feel that they’ll look even
better after editing.
