We've known for some time that there is a gap in the recruitment industry,
on one end of the spectrum there are the large, public-listed companies
who have a responsibility to their shareholders and are forced to focus on
the numbers. On the other end are the venture capital funded firms that
have obligations to their investors, and need to focus on delivering quick
returns.
We fill this gap by bringing you the experience and knowledge of the large
companies, without the corporate, shareholder focused objectives. At the
same time, retaining the aspiration of long-term, mutually beneficial
relationships that the smaller venture capital, short-term growth focused
firms aren’t able to sustain.
Some people would describe this gap as a niche, but in practice it’s a
strategic necessity.

Mark Ellwood created Ellwood Consulting with 18 years of specialised recruitment
experience in hand. As the former Managing Director, Asia of one of the world's
leading public listed recruitment firms, Mark was responsible for the brand's introduc-
tion and growth in Singapore, Malaysia, Greater China, Hong Kong, Indonesia,
Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
With 15 of those years spent developing high performing teams and profitable offices
in Asia, Mark has steered a global talent agency's success and the recruitment needs of
his clients through financial crises, talent shortages and political unrest.
Mark's passion for his clients and his desire to add value to the industry and develop
practices saw him champion the creation and optimisation of proprietary information
that have added value and helped clients in their hiring as well as advice relating to
compensation and benefits, market intelligence and sector industry knowledge.
In Malaysia, Mark identified an opportunity and an exciting challenge in the form of a
nation with increasing demands for high quality professional talent and an environ-
ment in which he could apply his specific talents and expertise. Mark saw Malaysia's
growing regional prominence and the increasing number of MNCs establishing a local
presence and knew the timing was right for him to drive this growth further by
sourcing the right talent.

Our team of consultants have backgrounds rich in not
only recruitment experience, but in the functions they
specialise in. Functional experience means our consultants
understand the specific needs of a role and are better able
to assess a candidate’s capabilities and competency.
In terms of filling a role, our consultants have

best candidates. From their previous roles in specialised
functions, they know what the right person looks like on
