11. CALCULATIONS
1 Main Scale Division = 1 Inch
Number of Vernier Scale Divisions = N = 10
10 Vernier Scale Divisions = 9 Main Scale Divisions
1 Vernier Scale Division = 0.9 Main Scale Division
Vernier Constant = 1 MSD – 1 VSD
= 1 – 0.9 MSD
= 0.1 MSD
= 0.1 Inch
VERNIER CONSTANT (VC) = 0.1 Inch
12. APPLICATIONS
• Used for measurement of length which is not on scale
• Very small length measurements
