1. The B1
What is the B1?
The B1 refers to a domain level of a foreign language; in Spain the most widely
spoken foreign language is English, which is becoming a compulsony requirement for more
jobs.
The structure of B1 is formed by:
● Writing
● Speaking
● Reading
● Listening
We are going to analyze the questionnaire now. It has fifty-five answers.
The first question is about if they have the B1. The answers have been that the
majority have not the B1 and only the 38,2% have it. The second question is about the level
of English. the majority think that they have the level of B1/B2 and the rest think that they
have the level of A1/A2 (27,8%) or C1/C2 (16,7%).
2. The third question is about their studies and the majority answers are to became a
teacher (35,2%), then there are social education (18,5%), open university (18,5%), economy
and business (14,8%), and tehcnology (13%). The fourth question is about if they know the
structure of B1 and their answers have been that the majority yes (87%) and the rest no (13%)
3. What are the parts?
This question is related to the typical question: What is the B1 test? And what do I
have to prepare?
It is very important before going to an exam be prepared for it and know exactly what
I am going to face.
In our questionnaire we were able to verify that 92'6% of the people who have
answered the questionnaire know the parts of the B1 correctly.
It is noticed that urges within the community of university students!!
Which of this parts do you think are better at?
It is a very personal question for each person, since each one knows better than
anyone and can assess their current situation against B1.
In our questionnaire we have 31.5% favorable speaking, 24.4% writing, 20.4%
reading, 14.8% all of them and 9.3% listening.
These results indicate that there are more people who are very good at speaking
English.
4. Do you know another language?
This question had a result of 55.8% (yes) and 44.2% (no).
It is a pretty good result because people who already speak two languages, it is much easier to
learn another with great ease.
Why do you need English?
The answers to this question have astonished us, since the vast majority prefer the B1
to talk with other people than for university degrees.
The results are 40.7% to speak with people of another nationality, 33'3% for the
university, 14'8% to study and finally 11'1% to travel.
5. Can you read a generally text and understand it?
The 35.2% , 19 persons say us that they generally understand a text , 26 persons , the
48.1% less or more can understand the text and 9 persons , the 16.7% don’t understand the
text.
It’s a big problem for the student that need B1 for the university degree because one
of the part of B1 is the reading and if they don’t understand the text can’t answer to the
question’s text
Can you keep a basic conversation in english ?
The most of UGR’s student from the campus of Ceuta can keep a conversation in
english , it’s is normal because we think that know in the world all can understand some
english words, because we used to use in our conversation. Infact 17 persons, the 31.5%
chose the first option of our linked scale , and only 6 , the 11,1% choose the number 5 , and
how we explain the 1 is when you are very agree and 5 very disagree.
6. Can you understand an english movie ?
At this question the majority of the people choose the number 3 , like to say i don’t
understand but i see the video and understand what the actors do, because 17 persons , the
31.5% say this , is for this reason that the other 46.3% , 25 persons choose 1 or 2 and the
22.2% , 12 persons choose 4 or 5.
Do you think that high school prepare well for B1?
The answers of this question have been very balanced, the people have answered with
the numbers 1,2 ( 24,1%), 3 (31,5%) and 4, 5 (44,5%), although there are people that they
think that the high school doesn´t prepare for B1.
7. Do you think they're should be more bilingual schools?
The answers of this question have been that should be more bilingual schools
(40,7%).
Do you think that teachers need to be more prepared?
The answers of this question have been that the teachers should be more prepared
(40,7%).
The interpretation of this questionnaire is that the majority have not the B1 but they
know its parts and prefer the speaking. The majority reason is for speak with people who live
in others countries.
In addition, they think that should be more bilingual schools and the teacher must be
more prepared for teach.
8. As a conclusion, I think that B1 it’s an important degree for our daily life, this degree
have a something difficult parts for me, but with effort and constancy, we can do it every
thing that we need. This homework, has been hard because, we had agree in everything, and
sometimes was hard.
However has been funny and I can know about my classmates, especially how they want for
this homework and how are they as a person.
