4. What is the purpose of our research?
We were interested in:
- Know more about the English level of the university
student’s comunity.
- Make participants think about their level compared
to the B1 requirements.
- Know the basic points of researching.
5. We asked to 21 students about:
- Gender and age.
- Current studies.
- Chosen language.
- Voluntary or forced choice?
- Study, work or both?
- Levels.
- Motivations.
- Ways they have learnt
- Ways to learn English eassy.
- Time spendt at week in English learning.
6. What are the main conclusions?
• English level is really low (or they think so…)
• Predominant age between 20 and 24 years.
• English is the second language preferred by students (85.7 %)
but not the only one.
• A low but important percent of the students (23.8%) feel
forced to learn English for different reasons
7. • 50% of the students think their level isn’t nearly enought for
face the B1 exam.
• Spoken Production (Speaking) is the hardest skill (52.4 %)
because of the pronunciation followed by Listening (19,1%) ,
Writting and Reading (14.3 % each one)
• Main motivations are:
• Get the university degree 61.9%
• Get an useful tool for comunication and learning 33.3%
8. • 66.7% learnt along their academy life while 33.3% learnt by
themselves and only a 9.5% take classes in institutions out
educative system
• Most of students (52.4%) spend between 1 -2 hours at week
learning English or 1 hour or less (33.3 %)
9. How can we prepare for the B1?

We know that our students have no time and only
spend 1-2 or less than 1 h learning English
1. Groups of learning (Students can be teachers)
2. Find things that you like and learn about them but
in English.
3. Speak it out! Found people and talk language is a
tool for comunicate, use it.
